The OEM mufflers on my FXRS-C showed up, had 'em on in a matter of 90
minutes, and they sound, wait for it, .....wonderful!

You'd swear it's a bike fresh off the showroom floor. It's a whole new
experience, and a whole 'nother level of pleasure to ride. I cant' wait to
do a 12 hour day.

Probably imagination, but I'd swear what's left of the vibrations of the
rubber mount are a bit more subdued as well.

I like the sound of the stock exhaust going full throttle from 2500 (still
have the S&S/EV-27 combo) ...and the quiet tooling around at 2200. Reminds
me of the riding I did on the '06 RK rental out in Colorado.

I don't care if I lost some power. I ain't racing, and the bike still goes
90... I checked.

Hurry up Spring!!

You may not have lost any power ... what kinda pipes were these replacing ?
When I went to CS turnouts from drag pipes on an '88 Sportster , I actually
gained a lot in the midrange . Mighta gained more if I'd left the crossover
, but I really liked the clean look it gave the bike . If these are more
restrictive , you might have to rejet a tad leaner , but maybe not . Do some
plug chops and see what the sparkplugs look like .

Will do.

Bike came with CycleShack M-Pipes, which as a setup with the EV-27 and S&S
looked like a rigtheous combo on nightrider.com's gallery (65+ HP). Never
Dyno'd it, but it was loud, pulled strong through 3500, and then ramped up
pretty darn fast from 3500 to 5000 at WOT (like it was gonna go into
runaway). Also has the SE ignition.

After installing the stock header and the Khrome Works tapers earlier in the
year, that runaway feeling above 3500 mellowed out, but it was still real
torky from 1500 to 3500 (I don't run above that very often, except when I
need to punch by someone on the road, or if'n I forget that I've already
sowed enough oats, and paid enough fines).

As for jets, I recently found out I was running lean. Upped the main jet
from 72 to 76, and it seemed to wake up a bit above 3000 again. A week ago I
pulled the sock off the basket in the air box, and it got even happier.
Gotta find a new sock, the old one's shot. It could be twelve years old for
all I know.

Now that I put on the OEM mufflers, I expect I might have to drop back to
the 72 but I'll take your advice about doing plug chops.

Jury's out on the seat of the pants difference in the power band. Not enough
time in the saddle yet. Felt good to ride quiet. Felt like it pulled well up
to 4 grand at 1/2-3/4 throttle, and I immediately found myself no longer
short shfting just to keep the noise level down.

All what matters is that you're happy.

Any man that will quiet his bike down and not give too shits about
what others think, damn sure ain't no poser.

But then again, posers never rode FXR's either.
