Here's the thing. I work with one of the finest painters in the business. To
do a good job takes time and requires expensive materials. If you use crappy
paint and/or hurry the job, it'll look like shit and won't last a year. If
you claim to do it "real cheap", you are either naive or you're cutting
corners.

Of course anybody stupid enough to deal with newsgroup spammers deserves
the quality of the job they get.

What is that old axiom about getting what you pay for?

You're not a liberal, you're a mental patient who isn't
receiving adequate supervision.
Funny, back in '96, I dropped my bike at a small family-run dealer, and told
them to replace the gas tank and throw a ghost flame paint job on the new
tank. They charged $325 for the ghost-flame paint job from an "independent
contractor." It looked great then and it still looks great. I'm not saying a
painter shouldn't charge for his labor - there can be a lot of labor in
stripping the old paint and fixing sheet metal. What I am saying is that
painters who refuse to work with anything other than $900/quart paint are
out to make themselves look good at the customer's expense. Spending that
kind of money on a regular street bike is wasting money, not cutting
corners.

Lucky you.

Not always. Shit paint looks like shit paint and if the guy can't work
thepaintgun, it looks bad anyway. I've seen tons of shitty paint jobs.
believe me. flame jobs where you can see the airbrush marks and all are
bad looking no matter what they cost.

Beats me, my paint cost a lot but everyone who sees it thinks it's
great. The paint work was fucking spectacular and it's held up great,
too. a LOT better than some jobs I've seen where it's bubbling or shit
like that....
