Anyone in the bar have any experience with cell
phones running the Android OS? Thinking about
getting one.

I wuz too... but,,, Verizon forces you to add Data ($39.99/mth) to
whatever Plan you're on. I don't need data because the fuckin' phone
has wireless already. That's enough to keep me away. At some point
someone will unlock the phone and I can use it without the Data Plans.
16Gig memory card (upgradeable to 32GB), and a 5MP camera got my
attention.

Friend of mine has the G-1 phone on T-mobile
and likes it. I'm using an iPhone and his big
advantage is that he can run more
than one "program" at the same time. I'm limited
to one "program" at a time, ie, if I'm running the
program that maps my rides to an online site
and I get a phone call I lose position reports
until I hang up the call and restart the mapping
function.
YMMV

Cell carriers can be really fucked up. I just shut
down a Nextel Blackberry. It came with WiFi and
you'd think it should still work. But nooo. Gotta
have a cellular connection for WiFi to work. WTF
is up with that? You know RIM didn't just decide to
build it that way. Nextel/Sprint told them to build
it that way in order to get the business.

I did not know iPhones were like that. The one I'm
looking at is 3G and allows simultaneous voice and
data.

I am running the Tmobile HTC Google G1 phone with the Android OS.

So far I am liking it, only negative (photos are not the best in low light),
if you use the internet or talk a lot, Daily full charging is required,
which you can do by the normal AC or auto power adapters or a USB cable
connected to a laptop turned on.

They have a lot of APPS, but when I see apps for IPhone that are
interesting, not always able to find quivalent versions for android.

Actually, I put on my left one first.
I put my left sock on, then my left shoe.
Then my right sock and then my right shoe.

I've always done it that way.
There was an episode on "All in the Family" where Meathead was doing
that like I do. Archie got upset with him and said he should put on
both socks first, then both shoes.

Meathead said if there was a fire and it was snowing or raining, he'd at
least have one shoe to hop around on while Archie would be out there in
his wet socks. Makes sense to me, always did.

I wonder who else does it... I guess it wouldn't work with pantyhose.
So, Joe Namath probably doesn't do it my way.

I know it's not the response you were looking for, but I thought I'd
share today.

Why would that determine which shoe you put on first?

My boss, who worked at AT&T for a lotta years, doesn't like the
keyboard on the new Droid.

Me, I traded in my Blackjack II (a Windows Mobile phone) for an iPhone
a month or so ago. I actually like the fact that the iPhone can only
run one app at a time (actually, you can be listening to the iPod
function, or on a voice call, and run one other app, depending upon
what the app is). With Windows Mobile, the apps never closed right,
and sooner or later the phone would crash and reboot. I got used to
manually rebooting the damn thing every morning, because when the
memory leaks got bad enough, the ringer wouldn't ring anymore and I
missed calls.

I didn't think I'd like having all that crap on my phone, but now that
I have it, I like it. AT&T now forces you to have a data plan for any
"smartphone" unless you jailbreak it like my boss did so he can just
get everything with WiFi. Battery life on my iPhone sucked until I
disabled push email. Then it was all rosy.

As far as $$ goes, my workplace used to pay for my texting plan
because that's how I get server notifications. Then they'd pay for
whatever percentage of the bill was business-related, which required
me to spend an hour every month figuring out which calls were business
and which weren't. Then they got smart, and went back to the old way
of doing things, so now I get $65 added to my paycheck every month.
Which I have to pay taxes on, of course.

I'll retire probably next June, so then I'll have to figure out if I
still want all this stuff or not. I probably will.

Same here, except it's left-right-left-right. Always put my left glove
on first, too.

Geez I must be bored. Shirley - we're all thirsty here, and it's
Friday, and I just got paid, so this round's on me.

I've read a lot of people say the same thing. The only
Samsung product I've owned was a VCR when they first came
out. Its remote was connected by a cable. That thing would
not die.

I'll be, I paid closer attention (thank you Senor Irving) to my routine
before leaving this a.m. I'll be danged if I wasn't wrong. Turns out
it was left sock, right sock, pants, right shoe, left shoe.

There is order in the universe again. I hope it wasn't a fluke..

All my shoes are now "slip on", so it really doesn't matter what order
they go on.
And being as there is never an "emergency" here at the
IHOP,(International House of Pan) I do tend to wrap the left foot first
for some reason, and I am right handed!

My Blackjack II was a Samsung, and I liked it better than any of my
other Windows Mobile phones. I just got tired of all the problems WM
phones have, so I went iPhone.

Oh, hell, you had to go and bring up pants. Lessee now, yup, socks,
then pants, then shoes. Butt now I can't remember which sock or shoe
comes first.

Ah, well. Comes with being 60 I guess.
