Can't cut the grass today
It’s been raining hard
Said I can't cut down the grass today
It's been raining hard
If I try to move the tractor
I'll be a chickpea in frozen lard

My mower just looks at me
Ready to do the deed
Slash out and cut and mulch (it's ready baby)
Even kill the weeds (yeah dem weeds)
But the soil is so very wet
It will sink me down to my knees

I changed the oil
Filled her with gas
Sharpened her blades and then alas

It was RAINING today
Just like it's done before.
So I have to wait a-bit longer
Mother nature, she's a whore

Can't cut the grass today
And we are about to be over run (here it comes baby)
Can't cut the grass today
And the Cicada are about to come (damn those bugs)
It's been 17 long years
I might have to shoot them with a gun

Set the deck real low
Wait until the dawn
When they spring to life
I'll kill then when they spawn

I will chop there little heads off
Like a king does to a pawn
But as far as the grass goes
I'll just wait to cut the lawn

I have the grass cutting blues (yes I do)
I want it short and looking nice
But with all the water
I be having here
I might as well be growing rice.
