Realistic painting

I am a casual modeller (actually a wargamer for 1:72 WWII) and
wish to start painting my Nazi tanks decently. I have several
questions:
1. Any recommendations on inexpensive airbrush kits with which
to paint the stripes and "Ambush" paint schemes?
2. The Tester puke yellow color for the late war German base
coat seems awfully dark to me. Could just be the lighting, but
"Panzer colors" shows a much lighter color. Any comments?
3. What color is good for drybrushing dust?
4. Any comment on fading? US color pictures shows Sherman tanks
much lighter than Olive drab, but an even coat of faded olive
drab seems inappropriate. Does faded olive drab apply only to
cotton uniforms, and not tanks?
