Turbo-newbie questions :

1. bought Testors Email 1/4 fl. oz. 1103 Red paint(oil-based ??).
Problem is even after I shook the little bottle for 5 minutes
violently the paint still doesn't completely saturate. I'm not sure
how to describe it but it just doesn't blend evenly when you paint it.
It's still kind of "fuzzy" and "uneven" and seems like the oil is
still not mixed with the paint !! sorry I tried my best to describe
the problem I hope you knwo what I mean......the paint still seems to
be "separated" from the oil after heavy-shaking.

2. how do I properly dispose Testors 1156 Brush Cleaner (is it a
Thinner ??) after my painting session ? I'm not sure if I should flush
it down the toilet ? I don't the sewage/toilet to be painted with the
dilluted paint ?!!

thanks

Stir the paint, I use a dremel and a footpedal, and sometimes it takes a
couple of minutes. Stir it with a toothpick until its a solid color and even
consistency. If you are brush painting with a brush, experiment with
thinner, but do not add to the bottle it will ruin it. I airbrush everything
so I am not much help in that regard. If you insist on shaking the paint add
a few stainless steel or plated BB's to the bottle. To dispose of brush
cleaner, just put the stuff in a jar and put outside somewhere to evaporate.
Use the same jar next time no need to clean it. Do not dump in toilet,
either store in lidded jar for proper disposal(call County officials for
info) or do as I said above.

My recommendation to your problem is to use acrylic paints first-off.
The cleanup is just water, the paints mix well and once dry - the
finish is very hard. The trick is to let acrylics dry well before
applying a second coat or masking off with tape. When painting by
brush, use a very light 1st coat and let this dry. Use short brush
strokes and don't go over and over the paint while it is wet as this
will cause streaks. Any model shop will sell acrylics along with
enamels. If you don't have a nearby model shop, companies such as
www.squadron.com and www.towerhobbies.com sells acrylics.

About your Testor's paint - it may be old and the paint pigment sinks
to the bottom of the bottle and the oils rise to the top. You will
need to stir, stir, stir with the addition of a couple of drops of
thinner - I even have used acetone in a pinch.

Good Luck!
