I'll pass on both of your sick "creations" , thank you.

BTW, what, exactly, do you mean you added them to your "IPMS site"?

Wasn't aware that IPMS sponsored personal sites.

Kurt, for further insight, ask Dennis what he put inside the crashed
aircraft. You might find it interesting.

Hmmm, while I find the doggie 'model' to be a remarkable waste of time
it's his time to waste so whatever turns his crank....
The 767 crash dio makes me wonder; is it sick because it's a crashed
civil liner or because it's a crash period? I've seen hundreds of
dioramas of crashed military a/c and nobody seems to bat an eye so what
makes the 767 sick? It wasn't modelled on a real incident but could
possibly depict the deaths of many people whereas a military a/c may
only have a handful of crew at most(other than transports) so maybe
that's the problem. I thought it look rather well done but I must admit
the subject does kind of repel me, however I can't even figure out why I
feel this way. No flame intended BTW, just curious.

I'd like to see some better photo's of that 767. The one posted is quite
poor. Everyone--Model what you like! Think outside the box. Modeling
damaged vehicles is not a crime. -- It's done all the time. Models are a
reflection of one's imagination. Let people express...

I would love to see more folks post pictures of their favorite modeling
efforts in this NG. Can we see your best work?

The point with this guy is his track record.

The 767 crash with the burned meat for victims was creepy, to say the least.

The pile of excrement, which I saw at the Nationals when it was turned away,
was just plain disgusting.

The personal attack on Sharri was vicious.

His choice of e-mail handle probably says it all. Following his site to see
what he really thinks he is did give a few chuckles, though.

All in all he presents a personna of a seriously sick individual who I, for
one, wouldn't want to associate with at any level, much less expose my children
to his particular forms of pathetic self flagilation.

Neither Mike! It's just a poor dio. Plain and simple. It had the look of a
project that started out with good intentions to be a nice, well built 767.
Perhaps somewhere along the way something went wrong with the paint, or maybe
the seams. It just wouldn't cut the muster of a "stand alone" model. So the
modeler busts it up and makes a dio out of it. I've seen it done countless
times. The thing is, no matter how much groundwork and celuclay you put on a
piece of wood, the model is still a piece of shit. On it's own, the 767
appeared to have been made by a junior.

i think youre confusing it with the other model.

personally, while i dont think i would have modeled either of these objects,
i think y'all are being way too reactionary. for instance, i dont like war,
but you dont see me stinking on all your airplanes and tanks and
what are basically war toys. what would you think of a diorama of a
nazi concentration camp? is that off limits too? if so, where is this sort
of stuff written down, because i certainly wouldnt want to tread on any
toes. and then i suspect the same people who want to censor this sort of
thing are the same people who cry "PC" when one mentions swatstikas being
missing from kits or amt not supplying confederate flags for some of their
cars. get it straight people, you cant censor one thing and complain about
censorship at the same time.

and i think modelling a piece of shit is near genius, if only for the
statement it makes. and i think ipms small minded to refuse to allow
it to be shown. what, they didnt have a category for it? or is it
just "beneath" them?

and im not sure who appointed who to judge the diorama a "poor dio. plain
and simple". you forgot "imho" there i think.

imho of course.

Hi All,
I accept everything what William wrote earlier. There are not any topics
prohibited and any shouldn't be. Maybe modeling of the piece is of shit is a
little bit tasteless but anything in modeling can be done or good (precisely
and correct) or bad and nothing more. Modeling is scaling down the reality
and reality consits of a shit as well as of F-16 or Leopard 2. I remember
wide discussion in Poland when some two years ago one very well - known
artist together with LEGO company released very limited series of blocks
depicting concentration camp. All blocks were grey/white/black with black
guard figures and typical LEGO skeletons as the prisoners. There were grey
barracks, HDPE barbed wire etc. It wasn't Nazi concentration camp but SOME
concentration camp as it appears anywhere in the world in any time. As it
was in WWII Germany, in 1901 in South Africa, in Beirut 1982 or Croatia just
yesterday. But even then many people said it was tasteless. No, it wasn't.
It was piece of artwork, firmed by famous artists and well-known toy company
and sold for some US$ 5.000 per set for the collectors.
Good and detail 1/12 model of a shit is much more valuable than 1/12 model
of some shit-maker done straight from the box.

I downloaded that crash diorama picture and tried everything to
enhance it to bring out more detail. But that picture appears to have
been taken so as to resist such attempts in that not all that much
detail was ever made visible. However, it looked very convincing and
impressive whether or not it was based on an actual incident.

Now, how about a diorama of the St. Valentine's Day Massacre?

Even I could place third in a three entry category!

Insead of berating a bunch of folks who are interested in scale
modeling, why don't you try entering an art show.. There should be plenty
of dim-wittet but "better-than-you" folks who would probably think you
are a genius. Just wear lots of black - artists don't like bright colors.

IMHO you are little more than a guy with a big mouth and little
manners. Honestly, Beavis and Butthead has been done to DEATH. You are
not doing anything new here. Stupid is much less "in" than you seem to
think (the 1970's are long gone as well). You are just some sort of
middle aged rebel without a clue.. You are not shocking most of us, you
certainly are not impressing anyone. I am not shocked by dog shit. I
scoop it up every morning, get the kids a buck to do it if I am lazy. If
it gets on my shoes I wipe it off. It seems pretty simple to me. It has
no commercial value and near as I can tell is pretty consistent.

Everyone here builds models, a piece of shit is not really that
inspiring to us. Obviously you are much better than most of us. I
never in a hundered years would have had the imagination let alone the
talent to make a piece of crap. I capitulate - you are the best dammn
modeler there ever was. Now will you go to one of the arts newsroups
and leave us mere mortals here to squander over things less wordly than
dog shit? PS take your other account (flyby) with you. It is obvious
that this is you posting responses to yourself.

What is the difference if someone creates a crash scene dipicting a
WW2 aircraft? I hear no complaints about that.
There looks to be a lot of hard work put into this. It wasn't a real
incident so what is the problem? If it was then the bad coments would
be justified.
To person who made comment "This should be in an art show." isn't
model building an art?
To person who made comment "Anyone can place third in blah blah

That's my two cents worth.

To everyone,

Please take a little more time to read all of the postings in a thread before
making disparaging comments. In particular, some care in quoting would be very
much appreciated. I never wrote the quote attributed to me above; in fact my
post was to point out the illogic of depicting military crashes while abhorring
civilian incidents. The indiscriminate quoting twisted my words.

<<Long time RMS reader getting annoyed with idiots.>>

Forget "Artistic Merit" or if it is a suitable subject. I saw this diorama in
person at the contest, and IMHO, it was a piece of junk - poorly done, with
what looked like the talent of an eight year old (no offense to our younger
modelers). I've judged in many contests - local and Regional and can honestly
say, that it simply was not a good model at all. I'm pretty sure that most of
us realize that photos are pretty forgiving to models (much like beer improving
ugly women at 3am...). The photos make the subject look halfway decent, but I
can assure you, this model sucked. Haven't we given this crap (sorry :) more
