First armor model from airplane/car modeler. Need suggestions and/or titles
of reference material for proper camo schemes for Marine or Army versions.
I'm not a rivet counter but still would like to make a valid attempt.
TIA

Squadron has a nice "In Action" title devoted to the M60 series.

A quick note: The USMC did not use the M60A3. They used M60A1s, that by the
invasion of Grenada (1983) had received some of the M60A3 upgrades. AFAIK, the
USMC M60s never got the thermal jacket for the main gun. By the Gulf war, IIRC
they all had received reactive armor (although you will see some pictures of
them without the armor fitted, in all that I've seen the mounting brackets are
there.)

In Grenada and Lebanon, USMC M60s wore the 4 color MERDC camouflage (although
in different colors than typically seen on Army tanks -- the photos I have look
like OD 34087, Medium Green 34102, armor sand and black, but those are just a
guess). Some of the USMC tanks that arrived in Saudi Arabia in 1990 still wore
this scheme (my guess is that those were the tanks that came off the MPS
ships). By the time the war actually started in 1991, it appears that all had
been repainted in one of the shades of sand that appear to have been used.

You can paint a US Army in two basic schemes, depending on how much effort you
want to put into it. First is overall Forest Green, available in te Tesors
paint line. Second is a base of forest green, with black and field drab camo.
Field drab is also available in teh Testors line of paints. The USMC never
used M60A3's.
