I will never, ever, get to bang that singer chick Britney whatsherface.

I can not cope with the pain of knowing this, any longer.

I am going to give up sex completely.

p.s. No, you can't have my equipment since I'm done with it.

Sure - what's your address, put me down for $5.00.

If he declines the treat (or should that be 'trick'), you

You need to rethink your sex hobby. Many of us have sex just for the
enjoyment of having sex with a good group of friends. We don't just have
sex to have sex with the most famous sexpot we can. As for location,
Philadelphia, where I live, is rated as the country's heaviest city, yet
plenty of people from Philadelphia manage to get laid with some very
attractive women. If you've lost your thrill for sex just because you can't
have Brittany Whatsherface then by all means you should take some time off
and re-think your priorities. If you decide to have sex again we'd welcome
hearing of your exploits.

One approach I find very successful is a kill file. With a good one, you
can delete all posts from given individuals, and with a really good
one you can delete all posts that are replies to given individuals.
You may miss the occasional good post, but I find kf'ing just a few
individuals in any given newsgroup really cleans up the trash.

There's a whole tradition around kill files. The first level of kill
is to insert someone into the kill file and not talk about it. The
second is to kf someone and send them a private email telling them
why; useful if you think there's hope for the person, or don't mind
starting what's likely to be a fruitless email exchange. The third
is to kf someone, including their email, and tell *everyone* about it,
encouraging them all to do the same. But if you get to that point, you might
as well just unsubscribe; newsgroups that need that sort of handling are
generally terminally ill.

I usually stick to the first approach; it wastes the least amount of time.

people, many with faults.

That is certainly your right as a parent. OTOH, your son is surely
picking up worse stuff "on the street". This thread is in very poor
taste. However, I'd be more concerned with examples of rude childish
behavior presented in other threads.

I don't know anything about Tai's parents. They might be proud to
lean that he is chaste. Or perhaps secretly his dad would be proud
if.. let's not go there. At least they think "kindly" of him. They
could be a lot more unkind.

How old is your kid? Do you have ANY idea what he hears at school from all the
other students? Chances are, you would be shocked by what he knows/hears
about. I am 19, so it hasn't been all that long since I was in elementary and
middle school -- and I have volunteered with kids of that age regularly. I can
tell you with authority that the premise of "South Park" is not as ridiculous
as it may seem. The often-quoted "how do you know she has a cat" exhange from
the show is not too far from everyday playground conversation. Furthermore, if
your son is in his teens, "banning" him from any sort of media is only a futile
and frustrating effort -- high school is positively rated NC-17, and probably
couldn't be shown in American theaters. Why is it that we want to give
ourselves the illusion that kids aren't nasty? What are you afraid is going to
happen if he reads this thread? Will he go get a hooker, or try to get laid?
I doubt it.

I understand how kids can be. I also understand how adults can be. My
point was that we should try to keep this forum at a level other than that
of a high school locker room. Just because kids can be "nasty" at school is
no reason to show them that the "adults" of rocketry are too. I thought we
were supposed to be teaching them something here.

Do I control what my son watches on TV? You bet. I also control the books
and magazines he reads, what music he listens to as well as what he sees on
the net. Control may be a little bit too strong of a word, but we do
discuss and decide together what is appropriate and what isn't. If caring
what my child is exposed to makes me a prude then I wear the title proudly.
If a few more people cared about the youth of our country maybe we wouldn't
have substitute teachers in our schools that suggest buying prostitutes for
college students. We might also see a decline in the other societal ills
that come with moral decay and parental indifference.

Sorry for letting you know that some people still have morals.

I *like* threads like this. Stupid, childish threads like this don't
need to be read, and if there were more of them I bet there'd be so
little useful content here that I'd be able to keep up with it.

There, that's nearly 50 aricles I can kiss goodbye. <wave>

Hey guys, we are getting a tad too "ripe" for a family forum. And seriously,
who among us would really want to expose Tai to: aids, the clap, venerial
warts, herpes and goodness knows what else one might catch from such a
transaction. Further, kids, as young as elementary school often cruise here
and the last thing we need to do is provide them with any excuse to think
prostitution is harmless. Finally, for those of us with daughters (or
sisters) it's tough to find too much humor in more than just a little of
this sor of stuff. The problem is we begin to realize that every "working
girl" is somebody's daughter or sister and then the humor fades pretty fast.

Sorry to be such a wet blanket, but don't you all think it's time to end
this thread and move on?

GEEZZZ!!! Do you guy's REALLY believe we are going to get Tai a
prostitute??????? I wouldn't spend a dime to assist Tai or anyone else with
their sex life (OK, maybe a nickel), it sounds like a personal problem. This
has been a lot of harmless humor and I think we should treat it as such.

Which is why public schools are beyond hope. As for your defeatist argument
that "if they don't hear/read/see it at home, they will elsewhere, and anyone
who opposes it is a prude", I wonder what you'd think about a parent who didn't
try to feed his child wholesome meals and keep him from ingesting poisons? What
goes into their heads is at least as important as what goes into their bodies!

So, what are you getting at? A pretty rocket, a pinup girl, both, or
something else? Any criteria for the entries? What about having
three categories: Little Miss Rocket (under 12), Junior Miss Rocket
(13-18), and a Miss Rocket (over 18)? Or is that getting too
complicated?

Congrats on discussing stuff with your kids David, I agree that this is
certainly a difficult and worthy thing to do. If you've been successful,
your son will look at this thread, decide that it is the prurient nonsense
that it is, and pass it by.

At least, you should hope he'll pass it by before he reads his father's
nasty little put down. Don't feel bad, though. Neal has a real talent for
drawing out the nastiness that lies just under the surface of the self
righteous amongst us.

Ya got another one, Neal.
