  Actually, the gyrating thing is just a ground resonance. Full size birds &lt;br&gt; will do it too under the right conditions. The model will lift off in &lt;br&gt; ground effect at power settings that it wouldn&#39;t be able to maintain &lt;br&gt; altitude with if you just launched it from your hand three to four feet off &lt;br&gt; the ground.   The most direct answer is that the copter doesn&#39;t generate enough lift &lt;br&gt; to take off from the floor; fly it out of your hand. Otherwise, ground &lt;br&gt; effects cause the copter to gyrate around on the floor and it never &lt;br&gt; lifts off. Once you have the copter in the air, you can then deal with &lt;br&gt; trim issues, but you will never be able to do so with it on the floor.
