Molest charges for martial arts champ, teacher By Michelle Durand

A Brazilian martial arts champion who runs a Half Moon Bay jiu jitsu
studio drank beer with four boys, including three students, and gave
them inappropriate massages, according to prosecutors.

Joao Pierini, 35, is accused of contributing to the delinquency of a
minor, annoying a child under 18, sexual battery and lewd and
lascivious behavior, said Half Moon Bay Police Chief Ike Ortiz.

Pierini was charged Jan. 8 with one felony and eight misdemeanors, said
Chief Deputy District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe.

He pleaded not guilty and asked for a court-appointed attorney. He
returns Jan. 19 for a preliminary hearing and remains in custody in
lieu of $500,00 bail.

If convicted, he faces about three years in prison, he said.

The investigation is ongoing but police believe they have identified
all the victims, Ortiz said.

On Dec. 15, four boys ages 15 to 17 ran into Pierini at a local
Starbucks coffee shop, Wagstaffe said.

Three are students and the fourth a friend.

Pierini noticed they had beer and invited them to his studio, Brazilian
Jiu Jitsu at 2830 North Cabrillo Highway in Half Moon Bay, where he
also lives, Wagstaffe said.

Pierini reportedly gave the boys his keys, told them to put the beer in
the refrigerator and said he'd meet them there.

As they drank beer, Pierini offered the boys massages. The first victim
later reported Pierini massaged his genital area until he got up and
rejoined his friends without sharing what had happened. The next day,
he asked the other boys if they had a similar experience and they
agreed. The boys told the first victim's father and they reported the
situation to the Half Moon Bay police.

On Jan. 3, Half Moon Bay served a search warrant for Pierini's
workplace and car.

Pierini is a 25-year jiu jitsu veteran with a third-degree black belt,
according to the biography posted on his workplace Web site.

The Web site also advertises therapeutic massage for trainers.

Pierini moved to the United States from Sao Paolo, Brazil in 1999 and
opened the Half Moon Bay school with Jim Irizarry. The two also created
the Joao Pierini Association and a competition known as the California
Open International Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu & Submission Grappling
Championships.

According to the Ultimate Fighting Championship Web site, in 2002
Pierini fought under the moniker "The Tasmanian Devil."

Pierini has no prior convictions in San Mateo County, Wagstaffe said.

Agreed, and not just because of the name thing.

And speaking of Portuguese names, why is it that English language media
can hardly ever spell Sao Paulo correctly? Can't the editors just look
at a map?

Always true, but oftimes difficult to enact. Especially here, where the
victims are multiple, in the same place, and students of the guy.... so
unless everything is turned upside down- what the hell- maybe they hated
his guts, and made it up, but unless it's that- it's not like the Duke
case at all.

There, the issue are essentially malfeasance by the D.A. who withheld
exculpatory evidence, and for political purposes; lying by the 'victim'
who couldn't identify anyone and who had no dna evidence of the guilty
within her, and the shitty leftist bs politically correct brainwashed 88
faculty members who signed that shitty letter demeaning white athletes
after the flawed evidence came in.

Now- some are with enough brains to back off, but some simply are too
brain washed but to use the lies, about the athletes, by the black
stripper, who should do time for her lie, along with the DA who should
do time for his malfesance, and the 88 faculty members who should be
fired as part of the payment to those three young men, who are innocent,
and were adjudged by they all, as guilty and scourged forever with the lie.

Some Brazilians look rather dark so maybe it's a marginal case race-wise...but I
tajke your pint.

If he's proved innocent and his business dies, he'd have every right to feel
bitter and twisted about it. I take it he has few other skills so what career
options are left open to him?

Sure, but being innocent until proven guilty (IUPG) is one of the cornerstones of
every democracy.

Especially here, where the

Not by those criteria, but the most important criterion (IUPG) is the common
thread.

Yes, it's a pathetic case indeed. It all stems from people not accepting the IUPG
maxim. That's why people end up scourged forever for crimes they did not commit.

As Bill has said in another reply, who will go to this school even if he is
proven innocent? You'd have to hope that those that knew you well would stand by
you and support you.

Its common for predators/Sicko's to take on roles which
get them closer to their obsessions.

IE: Preists, School worker, child supervisory postions..etc.

Of course it is, but there's virtually no examples of grapplers with bad
intentions. What about collegiate wrestling? Judo? The instances are so rare that
they are way *below* the instances in the general population.

Pig's arse. We have a full-time physio who does massage at Fight Club.

Were you to make such a suggestion to him, he'd remove your head from your body

Ever been to a pro football locker room? What do you see? Guys on tables getting

that.

That's the bigger issue behind your obviously important point about
innocent until proven guilty. The casting of aspersions preceeds and
follows the acts and is used or can be used to destroy, beyond the legal
ramifications.

So what's the answer- complicated.
But political correctness as a concept is extremely guilty of
conditioning against the necessary sifting and winnowing that is so
vital to establishing what is right, what is wrong, and the worth of the
shades of gray in between. What I'm pointing too is that revisionism
slide, of pc thinking, that paints everything one way, without having to
answer to the varieties and differences and making people think and
understand what the reality might be in each case.

What gets me about the Duke case is the guys, who were clearly innocent
of a crime, were never ever to be supported by the university, which is
a left lib enclave, as most are now. Meaning, that pc is their reality,
and that white people, white men, are guilty first and have to prove
their innocence. That- in itself is indicative of how hateful pc really
is underneath it all. The liberal agenda, is an extremely hateful
agenda, underneath all that earth saving, planet saving, people saving
bs that they slobber on about.

And the more and more victories they get, the more they lose, because
the more rational discourse and rational ethics and rational law suffers
under the prejudice generated by such pc thinking.

Ok- end tangent- but the bjj guy, however guilty he may well be-
deserves to be, if innocent, clearly exonerated, and clearly apologized
too, just like the Duke guys, who have been branded for life- and they-
who are clearly innocent, have received none of the apologies and mea
culpas by the institution that hung them out to dry, that besmirched
their reputations and who will get a free ride, and go on caring nothing
about what the white guys went thru. If they were black... oh my,
there'd be photo ops, and racial healing bs seminars etc etc.

Of course. Notice how the guilt steve presumed was based upon a broad
generalization rather than the specific problem: you don't give
massages to underage guys- not without witness, around to view the
physically therapeutic and not genitally involved.

Many yrs ago, I paid to get 'rolfed' which was deep fascial massage. The
guy, who was the 'rolfer' asked if I wanted my deep fascia in my nasal
passages worked on, and of course, the rectal one's.

No thank you... said I.
Rolfing was bs, and although it has some benefit, the whole concept was
new agey disposed with errors of benefit.

But again, massage is certainly legitimate esp. for athletes and vital
to recovery and relief of pain. But performing genitally or with kids,
that is the focus of the issue and steve missed that. To focus is
critical, to generalize as he did, is deadly....

Actually, I didnt generalize.. And, I was thinking about
the fact that there were no adult supervisors arround,
which is one of the greatest reasons why I assume his
guilt. I however, didnt post this because I felt it

Which what I said: you don't give massages to underage guys- and esp.
without witness's around. You generalized that bjj is a perfect place
for such pedophiles to gather- which is the generalization that is
statistically without basis. And I'd go as far as to say that GDS is
correct- that there is far less of the man man let alone the man boy bs
going on in that crowd than in other sports. The reason: because the
perception heightens as to the meaning of the moves and strategies and
people use to win. It's more difficult to hide such intensions in that
environment. Hence my opinion that you were generalizing- which is why

I like women. I married one and for the 22nd yr now we are together. I
didn't think in the short time I worked out with a bjj and mma bunch
that there was anything like that even going on.

Although the bunch I was with were making snidely comments about the
lady, who looked like tugboat annie, big hips, large country girl, not
attractive typek but who had a job as a rescue person for people lost in
the wild with her dog team, and who smelled of the dogs.

I told them that she'd be a great person to hike with- none of that
sweety cutie pie helpless bs that great lookers tend to give about doing
anything to scratch their nails. The younger guys didn't get my humor.

But I cautioned them to stop talking about her and going on about her
body odor, since she too wanted to learn and it was easy to understand
her need and that mouth breathing was an easy temporary solution. I
talked to her on the side and suggested a pine soap scrub- which she was
embarrassed but grateful to hear suggested.

The guy who had the worst bo I ever grappled around with- an admittedly
short list- was a purple belt. I had to mouth breath when engaging him-
it was that strong, almost a burning, nearly gag causing odor.

Believe me, I've worked shoveling shit, and all kinds of odiferous
flotsam in my life, but for some reason, this guys odor really was
getting to me. Nice fellow too- bjj wise.

He was smooth as silk and he felt like a python, moving thru
positions, playing me, letting me try to grab something, with him not
trying to overwhelm me too soon. Most bjj guys who are well trained are
smart and don't try to crush newbies but rather let them put them in
somewhat difficult positions so they can experiment with their own
problems getting thru positions. Fine art that bjj.

I don't dwell on it.But mostly I teach adult members kids so they get
it.
I guess the big thing is that if is the parents first day standing
there as I teach the kid, and the kid says something like "Ow, he
bumped me." or some such, as ALMOST every kid does before they get me,
even if they are like 6 I say "Pain is good for you.Now tell him
thankls for hurting you. That is what you are here for , to get hurt."
Or they wanna quit halfway thru the 5 minute fitness session at the
beginning which just warms them up with squats and bear cralws and what
not, cause half you little boys are (as a great man onmce said here on
rma) "Nancys", they eat twinkies all day while watching pokemon, moving
only to pick up the remote control when it slidss between the cushions.
So when they walk off at 3 minutes I say "There is no quitting.Do you
wanna be a little weakling your whole life? Are you a boy or a girl?"
The point isnt to humiliate or anything. It isnt fun for me.I dont like
doing it.
But it tells the parents(many of whom politely leave early anbbd never
return, maybe most) what I am about for future legal purposes. Also it
stops the whinning.
When one kid broke him arm bad(shattering his uper armbone in a fall) I
was like "Ok, you cried, you are damaged. But really whining about it
doesnt help so please shut up."
Thats just cause it sickens me to hear males cry and whine. Not for ahny
real point.
Also it does something else.I am poor, sick, and really dont give a
rats as about anything.I got nothing to lose.Which leads to a couple
good reasons to avoid suing me.
I am not always like this, im very positive and polite with them and if
they give an effort and fail miserably week after week and they cannot
remember moves cause ADD or some such, thats fine.Week after week day
after day for years I say "Keep you hands up." never losing my temper
or berating. But crying, quitting, and mostly whing about little aches
abd [ains is unacceptable. And I can proudly say that when today a kid
yelled "ow" when my nephew put him knee on his arm while trying to get
an armlock I just glanced at the kid and he said "Thanks for hurting
me.Its what im here for" and hes like 8 or 9.
Gi
PS
Which is why a woman who teaches karate and who is a student of mine
has a kids class bringing in 10 times what mine does. But im happier
than her.

Youre a better man than I.I couldnt tell a woman she smelled like
dog.It would just be too akward.
I had a hard time telling the couple male students I had who stank the
truth.
Both apparently started showering before class, but stopped within
weeks. Now I think id just try and slowly manipulate them into quitting.
So to you lurkers,,,,,
If your grappling coach starts telling you how great the club the next
town over is and how much more you might benefit from training there.
You probably smell bad.

Aging will show you what you can do now that you couldn't do then :^))

Glad to help. Tell them they have a great weapon to help in
competitions, and shouldn't shower a for a day or two prior to competing
because their acrid body odor is a bit tough on the old nostrils.
Big smile then, big smile- but, as some people's acrid body odor can be
tough on the nostrils for people they're training with, please remember
to shower prior to class- and if they go to any hunting supply store,
they usually have 'pine soap' which is really good for getting rid of
human odors, and hunters especially like to lather up really well to
give them a foot up on the sensitive noses of the animals.

Big smile, big smile...

That would be because you're trying to express your heterosexuality in an
inappropriate way. Sports massage is not sexual.

The vast majority of massage people are men - have a look in a pro
football/basketball locker room. You don't see pretty asian chicks....you see
trained guys...yet somehow these jocks don't mind one bit. But it seems you've
never been in a male locker room. Why not? Lots of naked men? You got a problem
with that?

Nope, it's about being a man and not being afraid of being in close physical
contact with another man, lest someone (probably someone like you) projecting
their own insecurity calls them a fag.

That's a shame; you'd learn a lot.

You don't have to convince me of your heterosexuality, just your maturity.

You see how this puts you at a huge disadvantage with someone who has no problems
with it? What would you say to someone who wanted to learn striking but somehow
couldn't bring themselves to hit someone? You'd say to them, as I'm saying to
you.....

GET OVER IT AND MAN UP!

I used to wrestle a guy who always imbibed huge amounts of garlic the night
before a comp....in fact he might have eaten it right up until he competed.

By the time he'd worked a sweat up, he just reeked...it was impossible not to be
distracted by it. He won more than a few matches by the shock value it had on his
opponents.

Sure; and you let your beard and hair grow to a rasp, you try to get sweaty
so you're slipperier, you cultivate the odor.
I lost a wrestling match to a filthy pig one time; he was nastyfat and
deliberately smothered me with his nastiness- I liked to puke from it.
One lesson was all I needed.

What really struck me is that I didn't know it was illegal to annoy a child
under 18. I probably need locking up. Haha...

Hehehehe... That's the best excuse for not taking a bath that I've heard in
