How can you call yourself western martial arts when you completely ignore the premiere weapon - the bow.

One could ask the same of all traditional CMA and most traditional JMA.

Doesn't stop them from being CMA/JMA/WMA. Does stop them from being complete MA systems.

Horsemanship would be needed too.

For trad stuff.

I'm sure there are some that would enjoy that. The Salle that I've
been semi-regular teaching in has an archery lane (4, actually).

The biggest problem as I see it, is that where we have the seminar,
there's no decent (never mind "good") place to set up an archery lane.

I'm not sure how many people are even semi-qualified to speak on
actual authentic "Combat Archery" never mind teach it.

But it's an interesting question.

I think I'll mention it on the instructor list.

If I can figure out something does that mean you'll come out
finally? ;)

A friend's wife actually teaches military horsemanship. It's more
popular than I'd given it credit for a few decades back. And I'm not
just talking the ren fair "jousting" stuff either.

We have a shortage of giants in bronze maille to test techniques on.

We're getting serious traction for "combat archery."

Darn, that was the weekend I had my early Bday party. This is the first
I've noticed the post. :-( Well, I was planning to try to make it by
next year anyway, still trying save up money & fix up the place this
year.

I'm trying to talk my friend into coming but she's a bit strange. Yes,
even more than me... :-P Not a GF (in fact, it would probably depend on
if HER GF would let her go to it with a "man". I'm trying to sell her on
the camping apect of it but if any wiccan, pagans, witchcraft, healers,
probablyy anything new-age, it may help sway her. I mentioned about the
Irish & celtic Bata class & the head of the group as a leading
historian. But again, I've all the way tl next year to convince her. And
yes, totally just a friend, unfotunately.

Story of my life....

We've got all types. We have pagans, agnostics, Catholics, and I'm from the U.S. "Restoration Movement." We all manage to get along just fine. Well, the occasional "duel," of course but that's to be expected and it's never been about religion. ;)

<Bo>: Thansk for the Bday greeting. My friend is Christian, really
believes in prayer, just is a supposedly non-practicing lesbian with a
GF. Well, kinda non-practicing witch to. I keep saying that one of these
days, I'll write a sit-com about her & me, & try to sell it to some TV
network. ;-) Keep praying that someday I'll meet some straight,
affectionate, nice, non-radical-feminist girl. :-)

You said she is a Christian, a lesbian, and a witch?

Does she know that Christians traditionally burned lesbians and witches at the stake?

Those are reserved for a certain person who has a "slim but toned body that both men and women find attractive."

<Bo>: That's why I said that she is strange or more than me even, or
whatever I said. ;-) Also, that is why she is non-practicing. Kind of
like a non-voting political activist I guess. Least she is good for my
reputation, as she is 37 & I just turned 51. She's going to college
trying to get some degree in either physical therapy, occupational
therapy or at least massage therapy and has the dream to "open a healing
center & help thousands of ppl". It seems that I still know more about
the subjects, some even before I met her, but I try to help her out. I'm
not sure if she can ever fully get through college though. She believes
God will make her pass & wants her to do both College & looking for a
job, get a drumb circle going, eventually learn yoga & tai chi and other
things that I got her interested in. She has the wrong attitude though;
that she only wants to learn from "the best", rather than learning the
material. Also, that radical feminism, can't be told what to do, least
by a "man", so though I've tried teaching her some self-defense, in the
Fall of 2011 taught the Yang style 10 form but she doesn't want any
correction so she is way sloppy & off in moves. Feminism is of the
Devil, NOT NOT NOT to benefit women but only to belittle men, even if it
means severely harming wmen to get back at the men. Evil evil
brainwashing. Keeps her from learning & improving from feedback. Rather
than "her" change, she wants to change the "Christian community" who
don't accept gays or witches. The rebeliousness that is the nature of
sin but claiming God tells her to do it & that she is right & others are
wrong & hypocrit Christians for not accepting stuff. But hay, at least
I've got someone to hang around who looks pretty good, younger, geting
over her claims of hating to give hugs, walks on my back even if no
other massage & at least does believe in prayer. Yes, a strange mix. She
wants to be the first co combine Christianity, Reiki, Yoga, Taichi, all
religions, etc (new age basically), though I've told her that others
have came up with the idea many times over the centuries. Won Hyo was
the Korean philosopher IIRC from the background of the name of that ITF
form, who had that idea a couple centuries ago.

That she is going to "wait" till she can be trained by the best & become
a master in things that take 20-50 yrs to master keeps me doubing that
she will ever really achieve her grandios dreams though. But hay, she
can see to drive, has a car, and where is "YOUR" 14 yr younger femaple
fiend yu hang ou with? ;-)
