I have been an instructor for several years, and have always purchased
and sold Century equipment. I have finally become fed up with Century's
sales philosopy. One of my students recently got the new Century
Catalog, with their 800 order line and order hours, before I even saw
the new catalog. I also went out to ShopKo last night and found them
selling Century equipment for less than I can afford to sell it for.

I am looking for resources for all types of equipment. I need a source
for uniforms, pads, sparring equipment, etc. Someone told me there is a
place called Choi Brothers out of Chicago that is good to deal with, but
I have neither an address nor telephone number. All responses with
names, addresses and telephone numbers for resourses are welcome. If
you don't feel comfortable posting a reply to this group, please feel
free to send e-mail.

This is not an invitation for flames about anyone's products. If you
are able to provide legitimate information about quality (or lack
thereof), I welcome your response.

There's a place called AWMA (Asian World Martial Arts) I don't know
if they just distribute themselves or if you can become a distributor
for them. You can look them up on the web.

You might try "Golden Master" in Tacoma, WA. We've always had very good
luck with their products.

You can get wholesale accounts (if you are a business - some companies
require your federal EIN) with AWMA (PA), Pacific Rim (CA),and Bejing
Imports (Houston, TX). I have accounts with all of them and am very
pleased. Also with Century. I don't know about which catalog started
this thread, but the newest catalog doe NOT have their 800 number in it -
instead, it say "support your local supplier". This is the latest Century
policy, as I understand it. I received a letter from them which stated it
as such. Also, there is a local sports outfitter which undercuts my
Century prices, but has not cost me a single student customer - I give
better service to our students. Try the above companies - look them up in
"inside Kung Fu" - it is good to have multiple sources for products.

I received the spring/summe 1997 Century catalog a few weeks ago. And
while it's true, it does say to support your local Martial Art school on
the order form on the right side, on the left under the actual form you
fill in there is the address, 800 number, hours, and instructions to order
by 3pm your time to ship the same day.

For anyone who cares, the number is 1-800-626-2787.

BTW: I found many Century products in Sports Authority for less than the
catalog. Even Sears had a sale and I had some bonus bucks and got the
Wave Master this past December for $89. Sports Authority carries some
gi's, the wave master, sparring equipment (hands, feet, headgear) and
strike pads. And a few more items.

Thanks for the info, but as to Century's policy, it's just rhetoric. If
they send out a catalog to one of your students, as they did to mine,
their 800 number and order hours are on the order blank. It's not
"printed" in the catalog, but is typed right on the order blank. I'm
sure it doesn't show up on catalogs they send to retailers - I'm not
sure as I still don't have any new catalogs, although several of my
students have received them.
