There's great and crap movies from every decade; the 50s sure had its share of stinkers.
In IMDB's' Bottom 100' the top four "Worst Movies of All Time" were made in the 50s.
Three of IMBD's top 20 were made in the 50s, four in the noughties.

Any top list that has Schindler's List in it immediately loses all
credibility. That simply was not that good of a movie.

As an aside, I watched 4 months, 3 weeks, 2 days this weekend...there
is simply no comparison in terms of the level of acting. You couldn't
have had a more stripped down set and budget than that film, yet the
actors even with silence could have you on the edge of your seat. If
anyone wants to see what acting is, watch that film.
