After finding a site on the Skybow, http://www.wizard.net/~jmallos/skybow/ I
started looking around for more info on the making of this 'ribbonesk' type
kite.
Does anyone have a skybow? Does anyone know how to make one? If you have one
can I see if in the air?
Cheers Matt

Ref the SKY BOW...

I made one a year or so ago.... using plastic strapping ..like they
put around boxes...

I would suggest a minimum of 3 sections,(4 or 5 I believe would be
better) and some very good bearings , as it develops quit a bit of
pull. and it makes some neat sounds

I don't have it any more, I repurposed it into part of my fish pond
filter :-)

Kitelines had the George Peters plans for his Windbow and playsail. If you
have access to old Kitelines.

HI Beth
I believe the Skybow is a Long narrow ribbon that rotates and by
this rotation it becomes air born and flys

the one I made was 3/4" wide and 150 feet long

GP's windbow and is about 30" wide and 50feet long and has vertical
battens every 3 or 4 feet, a very powerful "KITE"

and his play sail is 10' X 12' rectangular with lines comming off
the corners.

its also quite a tugger

Arch kite of ribbon sort in two general families:

1. Flip-kite or rotation intended. Jim Mallos type. Mueller type.
http://www.energykitesystems.net/Kites/RibbonBowArchRotators/index.html

2. Non-rotating: WindBow. George Peters type. Staked arc type that is not intended for rotation.
