Hello ppl. I wonder if anyone can direct / advise / help me as to what sort
of kite would be suitable for sea shore fishing. I have flown flexifoils so
I have a little experience but a flexifoil would be unsuitable for fishing.
I was thinking of a box kite that had two lines one above the other so I
could raise and lower it and therefore dip the bait in and out of the sea.
All the box kites Ive seen have a single fixing point, would a box kite with
two lines one above the other enable me to raise and lower the kite? Any
help greatly appreciated.

You do not want to raise the KITE, you want to raise & lower the BAIT.

Hence you raise the kite high up where it is stable and you have
separate fishing line which goes through a ring or block tied to the
kite line.

I have been fishing with this setup and learned some issues:

You tie plastic bottle with some water in it above the bait. This
prevents the bait going too deep and prevents the bait slipping
through the block. Also it warns boaters of the fishing line.

When you have a fish, it is better to move along the beach reeling
just the fishline until you can catch the fish. Trying to reel in two
separate lines in a hurry will result a mess.

I have bob lewis kites, light, med, heavy air, and a flex foil from pauls
in new zealand.
from shore or a pier the felex foil works just fine, take a little
getting us to adjusting the rubber bands to steer it but im happy with
it. the fishing line hooks on the struts and i use a pressur adjustable
relase clip. im fairly new with this type but it beats the bob lewis
kites as they oly good from a boat
rich

So how do you fish with a flexifoil? Sorry to sound ignorant but if your
controlling two lines from the flexifoil how do you manage to fish or do you
have a second person doing the fishing?

the fishing line stays with me till kite is wher i want it, i have a
flouresent bobber as a marker attached to my line say 10 feet above the
bait, so i know where fishing line is. i attach live or cut bait and
just leave kite alone. as i release bait fishing line goes slack, i
take it in until bait is under kite, from then on all ido is watch
bobber tryng to keep bait on the surface or as close to it as possible,
its a constant adjusting but not really difficult. when a fish hits
the bait it yanks fishing line free of kite line and i reel fast to get
in slack after landing fish i retrieve kite to releasr clip put fishing
line back in it and end it back up,
