Could you tell me if the Elixir is a good kite as well for a beginner??
Money is more or less "no object".
Thanks in advancd for your replies!!
Marco
I personally would say no. It's wind range is 4 - 20 MPH, this makes it
very frustrating for beginners. Then also, it's not a very stable kite
which makes it a great kite for tricking. I would choose another cool
looking kite to learn with. If you want to stay with Prism Kites, go for
the Fanatic. Great to learn with, grows with your skill level, comes with a
line set, straps and a video to help you get started.

I suggest getting a Dyna Kite for $30 to $40 and learn the up and
downs and left and rights, then get a $100 or a $200 or A $300 kite
and increase you skills after you learn the basics.
would you by you kid a new corvette for their first car??? or would
you get them a second hand pick-up truck
the Elixir is a very nice kite and flys very good, it is a shame to
trash something like that just because your skills are ready for it.
the Rainbow one are very pretty.

I was there also, watched Mark and took the lines. It made my buy list.
The only other Prism kite to have done so was the Alien. More of a Brit
high aspect kite feel. I would like to see if those new Skyshark rods can
really handle my clumsy abuse. For a beginner, no. Break something
cheaper, but you can order it at the same time. You save the shipping,
handling and gazing charges. You will be ready for it sooner than you
think.

Even if money is no object i wouldn`t recommend an Elixir for a beginner. It`s
not the possibility to break expensive tube - it`s more the Elixir itself. In
advanced hands its a really fantastic kite (I love mine) but for a beginner to
learn the basics there are better bets. Try out a Fanatic (from Prism) - it愀 an
excellent kite to learn the trick basics with but is also suitable for a newbie.
Some of my friends made their first steps with the Fanatic and learned their
first tricks with it later on - for them (and for me) the Fanatic is still a
"first choice" kite (so you don`t have to sell the kite after a few month).
After some first month of flying and an extended skill level the Elixir will be
an excellent kite for you too.

If money really is not an object and you know a few basics I would suggest
the Illusion. It is slower and more graceful than the fanatic and not as
big as the Prophecy. The Illusion is IMHO a better all around kite than any
of the kites mentioned which can go from precision to some awesome tricks.
I bought both the Illusion and the fanatic at the same time and have found
I rarely fly the fanatic but always return to the Illusion. If you are
still learning to keep a kite aloft and are prone to breaking spars, a kite
with extruded spars in the same size range of the Illusion would be better.
I have not flown the new Jam Session but have a lot of hours on the
original version which I feel is great starting kite. Since I bought my
first Illusion I rarely fly the Jam although I do take it out when I'm
teaching others. I hope this helps.
