I sent an email to the company -- which prides itself on service --
and never even got an acknowledgment.
Anyone know if something is going on with the company or has seen this
problem before?

A bit late but -
Its not that unusual - I've had the connectors fall apart on a variety
of kites left in storage, Flying Wings included.
FWIW the connectors are not expensive or too difficult to replace.

BrisKites http://www.briskites.com.au if you want flying wings
replacements, that's where we sourced the Silver Fox from.
