My good friends, Debe and Tommy, who live near Atlanta, Georgia, USA,
attended an Atlanta Braves Baseball game Wednesday night, May 7th. While
walking to his seat, Tommy was hit in the back of the head with a homerun
ball and has a fractured skull. He lost feeling in one of his hands but
they are optimistic that he will fully recover.
He still doesn't remember being hit. He lost a second of awareness and was
helped up by stadium staff and rushed to an emergency room.

Well i hope he gets better.
Out of interest was it his team or the opponents who got him? Did he get
to keep the ball?
They should give him MONEY, that's what they should give him.
Anyway, as I said[1] Al... I'll pray for your buddy, and I hope he's going
to be all right.

It turns out it was a homer hit during the San Diego Padres' batting
practice. They don't know who the batter was because the game hadn't
started yet. Tommy did get to keep the ball will have it signed if they
can figure out who should sign it. I think the whole team should sign it.
Amazingly, Tommy is going back to work tomorrow (Monday.)
Actually the odds are fairly good. Look at the back of a Baseball ticket
sometime and read the disclaimer. I've probably seen 5 people get hit pretty
seriously during the 50 or so Minor/Major League games I've attended.

The odds arn't as slim as you think:

Check out the guy above him who looks as if he finds in incredibly funny

Well thats comforting... I work as an entertainer in the stands of a
ballpark.
You made my day
I was at a Yankee vs. Tampa Bay game at Yankees Stadium this season,
during openning week. I was checking out monument park before the game
during Tampa Bay batting practice[1]. A guy ten feet away from me got hit
by a ball as well. He got hit in the back and shrugged it off like
nothing happened. He was a monsterous man so he was either lucky or just
huge. I don't think its very rare to get hit by a ball as a result.
In any case, I hope your friend Tommy recovers quickly.

[1] Sondre, I took note of many signs to protect the organization from law
suits that said, be aware of flying balls and objects from the field.
I like how just about everyone in this picture, including the little
toddler a few seats away, was smart enough to get their hands up in
defense. Except for the guy that got hit...apparently he wanted to take
it like a man.

1) Man with child doesn't put forth any effort to cover his offspring.
2) How did the guy in the front (turned around) have enough time to avoid
getting hit by the bat, and then have enough time to do a full 180 to see
where it ended up?
3)Red haired ginger child in the front seems completely oblivious to the
fact a baseball bat just wizzed by her.
4) Smarmey man in black shirt, seated 2 rows behind incident, is giving
the victim a "you asked for it" snare.
5) Will someone photoshop a penis on front row turned around guy, going
into the man sitting behind him?

One thing I love about forums. Random talk...
Tommy, my friend who got beaned by a homer, has not gone back to work as
he wanted. His wife wouldn't let him.
The Atlanta Braves are going to pay for all of his out of pocket expenses,
including missed work. I'll bet they pay for everything when the insurance
company jumps in.
> got beaned by a homer,
Now that is the filthiest thing I've read in ages.
Well done.
