You lucky buck!

[link] Interesting thing to me about story is that it is shotgun season here in Delaware and hunter, if not a felon, could have legitimately shot the deer as all are legal.

Anyone in West Tennessee here?
|
| |
This past July, I moved from northern Wisconsin to west Tennessee in the Paris area. I was wondering if there are any members here that live nearby. If so, I'd like to meet you and get together to BS about hunting and fishing. I'm still learning the area and the lake, and it'd be nice to meet someone with experience in this region.... more »

Hanging a deer revisited
|
| |
Well, gotta say my brother in law's method of skinning then butchering without eviscerating the critter impressed me. Shot the critter, brother in law came to get me after a short drag, took the critter down to the dump hung it (by hind legs of course) and proceeded to butcher. Neat and clean. No blood. Cut the head for ID... more »

Bowhunters, I need your opinion Please!
|
| |
Ok, I occasionally go to another site that is primarily about hunting. In one post, a guy from Ohio announced his first "bow killed deer" and proceeded to tell the story. He lives in a rural area and was getting tired of deer tearing up his newly planted fruit trees and decided to harvest one or two. I don't really see a... more »

Dogs and Hunting
|

We really do miss the official closure and cancellation of such newsgroups as alt.hunting.dogs, and alt.coonhounds. We have a new hunting dog (!) he is half Border Collie and half Saluki. His persona is somewhere between that of a Nova Scotia Duck Trolling Dog and Lurcher. He has a hard mouth, so the retrieve is something of a problem for him.... more »

This years whitetail hunt!
|
| |
Good luck to everyone. Be safe, have fun, and get your deer! Opener in North Dakota is Friday at noon. I'll be hunting up by Bottineau, ND where the deer are fat and the sunflowers are coming down today (less places for them to hide).

Blood trail light
|
| |
I don't know if I should be asking this in rec.hunting or sci.physics but here goes: I've never used one but here's what I understand from my search of the things. A blood trail flashlight consists of a white, red, and green l.e.d. and costs $40-$50. Best as I can tell, the white is for finding your way to the start of the trail, then you switch to the red... more »

MT Pronghorn

Howdy to all, Just back home to TX from a week of hunting and family visit time up in Eastern MT. Got our pheasant limits. My brothers female lab has turned into a really good bird dog. On one day a couple birds shot down across a creek. The lab swimming back across with a mouth full of Pheasant was... more »

scale photo target for short range
|

If I know how tall a deer is (36 inches at shoulder) then it is easy to figure out how tall it should be at 25 feet to look like 100 yards (3 inches). Or any other distance. Then I can practice in my basement. There are photos of deer all over the internet. What i don't know, not being all that computer literate, is how to get a photo to print... more »
