Didn't see it but I came very close, I believe. I had ridden my mountain
bike up to this particular stretch of road last May to see if it was
passable yet after a wet spring. There was a doe limping away on the other
side of the barbed wire fence. At first I figured it had gotten tangled in
the fence, but thought it odd it was bleeding from the top side of one hind
quarter.

A few feet further down the road I came to the wet weather seep and found
the tracks. Putting two and two together, I got a bad feeling and
high-tailed it out of there back to camp for a gun, camera, and a buddy.

The tracks were spaced out as if on a run through the mud. I noticed not all
the tracks had claw marks and later read that cats usually retract their
claws when running. I have taken a couple very large bobcats off this
Central Texas ranch but their paws weren't any larger than the front paw in
the photo. If it is a bobcat I gotta see this!

It's extremely rare that I go out into the woods/wilds without carrying
a gun. You just never know.
