For some reason, the latest post here for me is early February. Has there been anything newer?

Not that I've seen.... it's been slow.

About the only hunting this time of year is the internet.

Then again.... groups like The Ruffed Grouse Society are active... last
night my chapter talked a lot about dogs but we also managed to get some
planning and business done too... ;~) Some of the guys work their dogs at
preserves and at dog trials and training all year round. There is no reason
to sit around waiting for next season... lots of dog and habitat work to be
done out there!

There has been next to no activity for the entire year. Over the last
2 months it has been non-existent. That the spaMMers have not sent
any msgs to the moderator's inbox tells me that the group is pretty
much in trouble.

Years ago most of us had access to the newsgroups through our
Internet Service Provider. These days many people just pay for the
access and then use other services to get an eMail address. They
also have to use another service if they want usenet/newsgroups.

I would guess that 9 out of 10 current internet users do not even
know that the usenet and newsgroups exist. If they then do want to
get the newsgroups they have to subscribe to services to provide the
newsgroups. These same people think that everything is on the web and
many of them have no idea what the World Wide Web really is. They
just start up their web browser and use that as an eMail program and
then go to web based message boards to discuss hunting, guns, fishing
and other outdoor activities that we would have discussed here.

I really do not know what to do to boost activity here.

A positive attitude may not solve all your problems but it will annoy
enough people to be worth the effort.

I agree that newsgroup activity all over is in decline and add that we
are mostly off season for hunting and this makes group particularly slow.

Lot of us are using eternal-september.org and aioe.org for free ng access.

I have to agree that this groupseems to be pretty much gone-to-sleep. I'd think some folks would want to share coyote-hunting stories, or maybe results of trips to the S, Hemisphere, or something.

But of course if they aren't regulars here, they likely won't suddenly appear here.

There does seem to be activity on rec.guns, and not just confined to mass shootings or $xx,000 great guns.
