Hello,
Can anyone give me information on what kind of hunting is availiable in
Maryland? It is rumored that my facility may be closed (I work for the
Navy) and most of us transferred to Patuxent River (Lexington Park/St.
Marys County). I enjoy deer hunting the most, but could get interested
in waterfowl as well. Anybody care to comment? TIA for your help.

You'll be happy to hear that the Pax. river area is chock-a-block full of deer
and ducks (and excellent fishing). The area is mostly agricultural w/ low
density commercial widely interspersed within. There are a fair number of
resident Canada geese in huntable numbers but the best goose (Canada and Snow)
hunting will occur during the winter migration; with the best locations just
across the Chesapeake Bay. As an extra added attraction the Patuxent State
Park (just north of the base) has the east coast's largest number of wild
nesting Bald eagles -- a magnificant site.

Hope this helps,

Bruce, Maryland's whitetail hunting is excellent, some of the best I've
ever seen. Unfortunatly it's hard to get a lease to hunt on private land
and public land is overhunted. A friend of mine is a professional guide.
His name is Steven Rupert and he leases a farms all over Maryland, give
him a call. His number is
1(800) 962-4868 tell him Ed Petro referred you and he'll try to help you
for next year, he can help with Turkey, geese, duck, deep sea fishing and
out of state boar hunts. I hope I've helped just leave your phone number
on his answering machine.
