I set up a couple of trail cams in our backyard. Over four days, we had 29 pictures taken. Not clear how many different deer. Too bad we can't shoot them or bow hunt in city limits! They are eating my asparagus!

Bow season in MS starts Oct 1. I will put the plots in this weekend and trail hunt until they begin to pull in the deer.

How are other folk doing preparing for the season?

Same problem in my back yard but wife does not want me to hunt them. I think it is possible but it could be dicey retrieving a deer from a neighbor's back yard.

When my chestnut trees start dropping chestnuts in a couple of weeks they can turn my back yard into a stock yard.

I was out Monday afternoon for PA early bow doe season in crop damage area. Did not see a thing and will try again this afternoon. This is a park area that spans PA and DE with plenty of deer but plenty of refuge areas for them.

Good luck with your hunt!

At first light tomorrow, I will begin disking five plots and then seed them. I don't have a harrow, so I with brush them by dragging scrub trees behind the tractor. Then, I pray for rain.

I have a couple of trail cams out in extreme SE Iowa and have not got a
picture of a "wall hanger" yet....just a lot of does and small bucks. I
took a bucket of apples out to one of the cams this morning so maybe
that will draw in some bigger bucks but I really doubt it.

In this immediate area the DNR thought the deer were over populated so
the last couple of years they have been giving out a lot more doe tags
and now it appears that they may have overdone it a bit.
