2nd best ever

I sat one of my favorite stands today. after 2 hours of morning cold
with no deer, I thought I might just quit at 8:30 instead of 9. At
8:05, a large buck came by about 35 yds away on a trail where I have
taken 3 nice bucks before.

I tried a shoulder shot with my .243 because it sometimes does not
exit and I did not want to have to track him. He dropped as though a
light switch had been shut off. I guess it had...fragments in the
spine.

He turned out to be a very heavy, symetrical 8 point with his rack
almost 2" beyond the ears on both sides. His rack is virtually
identical to one I took a couple of years ago...but that one had
broken the left beam. This rack is the second best I have (wide,
heavy 10 pt is the top).
