Even taking perspective and changes in ground level into account, the
shadows could definitely not have been caused by a light source 93 million
miles away!

And if the camera couldn't see the stars because it was stopped down by the
glare from the directly illuminated parts of the scene, it would also not
have been able to show the faint illumination of the shaded areas allegedly
caused by light reflected from the ground. Fill-in floods are a much more
likely explanation!
