How Quark-y!
Bought a pack of very long Joss Sticks once down Portabello Road, or
Portobello Road even. I was a Waffic Trarden at the time and had the dreaded
police trousers on complete with truncheon pocket.
Almost exclusively, people would buy Joss Sticks down there to drown the
fumes of Ganja. This was in the days when you could get 5 years for
posession of a couple of grams, so you can imagine the expression on the
ponim of the guy sellin 'em when I slipped the 1ft-long packet into my
pocket.

Cost me around £1100 and that was a hell of a lot of money in those days. I
got it with some of my Unfair Dismissal money when I was fired from the
Traffic Wardens for daring to try to report a safety hazard!!!! After all -
I was only the Trades Union accredited Health and Safety Representative - so
what did they want I should do? Ignore it? So instead of getting rid of the
hazard they got rid of me! I got £2500 compensation - the highest ever
award for a basic-grade employee in those days.
It's got sustain, chorus and ensemble but no echo, little sir, and the
sequencer records stuff onto an ordinary audio cassette like an old
fashioned computer! The drum section is pretty good too. The drums are
digitally recorded. It's only got touch sensitivity on the solo voices
though - and don't laugh, the microprocessor that runs it is a Zilog Z80B
running at 6MHz. Sounds good though. Uses the same FM synthesis system as
the famous DX7 only with four operators instead of seven.
It's got a MIDI interface so I can also play it from my little Yam SHS-10
guitar-shaped keyboard thingy too.
Bargain of the century that. An excellent instrument but it looks too much
like a toy and never sold. It came out at £179.99, got rave reviews in the
magazines but still nobody bought it. I got mine about a year later for
£69.99 from Argos reduced from £119.99 for Christmas! Not bad at all.
I've also got an Italian style Inner Case harpsichord too - built from an
Early Music Centre kit, but I can't be bothered tuning it. Takes up half the
blasted living room. I'll get round to flogging it one day.
And after all that, my favorite instrument is still the Recorder. I can play
along to Klezmer stuff on a Sopranino for hours!
</OT serious description>

Don't know about those, but I can manage a very few of Bach's preludes and
fugues and a fair bit of really ancient stuff like William Byrde, John Bull
etc. D. Scarlatti is beyond my capabilities though, unless I can find a way
of contracting dierrhoea of teh fingers!
I can manage a few of Bach's organ pieced too, but it's damned difficult
playing the pedal part with your left hand, because with your right hand up
the other end you have to play the left hand part with your nose!

I live in Camden Town, not Golder's Green.
The guy upstairs certainly doesn't. He belongs to the Kingdom of Islam sect.

Maybe you should stick to the boogie woogie. Besides, Bach put those
pedal notes about 3 inches below the page number. How the heck can
you figure them out?
I was, no kidding aside, a church organist for a while. But they
complained that I played everything too fast. Well, is it my fault
they couldn't turn the pages fast enough? Besides, it's fun playing
"Woolly Bully" on a floored 7 manual pipe organ and watching choir
members shoot out of the loft. That congregation just didn't appreciate
real entertainment.

Laycock overdrive? Harm can come to a young lad like that. Supposing it gets
caught in the cogwheels - or is that a matter of a pinion?
My vehicular record goes: (can't remember the dates)
Honda CB175 - took my test on it then . .
BMW R75/6 - wore that out despatch riding.
Honda CB250 G5 - a bit gutless so swapped it with £300 cash for
Suzuki CS550. Best of the lot, that. Fast, comfortable and handled like a
dream.
Sold that after my near misses to date indicated how much the standard of
driving was deteriorating and how dangerous biking was becoming! The
sacrifices you have to make because of idiots! (Present company excepted.)
Near misses?? Yup. I changed my mind at the altar!
If that's what they think they're going to do, harpsichord music would seem
a little too delicate to them - and Klezmer?? Should make their heads
explode. What a pity it doesn't! It'd be Mars Attacks all over again!
Their favorite music is probably Heavy Mental - judging by the behaviour of

There .... lower ... more to the left ... perfectly!
What part of a woman's body is the "dub"?
My nemesis was a pedal cyclist. Made a right turn from the left side
of the road when about two metres in front of me. (Australia drives on
the left) Caught my car on the front LH corner and ended up with his
bald head smashing my windscreen. Then he had the cheek to allege
illegal practices on my part in his third party claim. I was furious
