Back in the days of the Roman Empire, a group of Christians were in the
cells of the coliseum waiting to the be thrown to the lions for the
enjoyment of the Roman population. Among them were some smartass operators
who saw a chance to make some money. They persuaded the Christians to give
up their valuables in exchange for an invisible cloak that would protect
them from the lions. The gong rang, the gate opened and all were pushed out
into the Coliseum to face the lions.
The Christians went out smiling because they thought they were safe.
The smartass operators went out smiling because they were rich.
I won't bother with the long lead-in, but the punch line is....
"Nowadays we feed the Christians to the Rotarians."
maybe your punchline would have been funnier, or even funny,if you had a
lead-in
It's really and not worth the pain.
