Finally there is (online) information available about the arms of the
princely Paleys:

Not exactly the most original arms with regard to the main charge....
If one were to blazon it, would it be party per fess or would the
imperial eagle be in chief?
Now, if only we could get to see the arms of the morganatic Zarnekaus!

Richard TANTZEN: "Das Schicksal des Hauses Oldenburg in Rußland; III.
Teil: Prinz Constantin Friedrich Peter, Herzog von Oldenburg (1812 –
1881)"; in: Oldenburger Jahrbuch, vol. 59/pt. 1, publ. 1960. On page
38 is the description of the CoA awarded to the bride ("... einen
einfachen Schild mit einem aufrecht stehenden silbernen Kreuze in
einem blauen Felde. Auf dem Schild ruht ein offener Helm mit einer zur
rechten und zur linken Seiten herabfallenden Helmdecke in blau und
rot. Der Helm is mit einen Grafenkrone geziert."). No original
extravaganza either.

A silver cross on a field azure, I wonder if it's a variation on both
the Delmenhorst arms and those of the Prince-Bishopric of Lübeck, the
location of the estate of Zarnekau? The blue and red of the mantling
are certainly the national colours of Oldenburg.
