Favorite Calibre for 100 Yd. Bench Rest?

I'm looking for a new target rifle for 100 yd. bench rest shooting. I really don't know what calibre to get. I want to go larger than .223 and smaller than .30 cal. I don't care about cost. 6.35 is .25 cal. A 5.7 is smaller yet. I have never heard of this gun or its caliber. What about it gets it called a cop killer? If .25-06 is necked down from 30.06, is there a similar cartridge on the market that is necked down using .308 brass to .25 calibre?
