Good evening gentlemen,

I don't know crap about guns, which is somewhat
strange as my dad was a antiques and collectable gun dealer and my uncle
Dick was a gunsmith... but I digress...

I received a butt load of gunsmithing books from uncle Dick this eve that
date back from 1933-1970s. I am curious about any value these book might
have. Could anyone direct me to a website or forum that might be of
assistance?

Thanks in advance!
Mark H. Bowen

Many of the titles you list are "classics", and are still of value to the
right buyer. You may be able to get an idea of value by checking Amazon.
Their used book info is at least a place to start. Some of the titles I
don't recongnize, and may be hard to get info on. If you are looking to
sell them, you can probably get the best price by using one of the gun
auction sites.

Looks like my bookshelf, except for the SAA stuff. Yes, there's
interest in those "old books" out there, you might have to wade
through a bunch of Google entries to hit the right one. There are
quite a number of book dealers in used gun books and some of them
might be worth more than you might think, particularly if they're
certain editions. If you want a place to start, here's a local guy
I've dealt with for 15 years or so:

Never sold anything to him, just bought, has always had fair prices.

I was amazed when I saw what my copy of "The Handloaders Manual of Cartridge
Conversions" is selling for. Paperback. Used. $131.

There are twelve million sheep in Ontario.
Problem is nine million of them think they are people.

That is a bargain compared to Amazon.com. The cheapest used one there is
$239.98!

Thanks to all of y'all for your input. I am not lookin' to sell any of the
books, but rather to give them away and I just didn't want to give away
books that might have a value that might cause me difficulties with my
uncles sons come the day of his estate auction--hopefully that will be very
very many year in the future. I found biblio.com and none of the books were
valued above $100 dollars, so I feel safe in giving them to a novice
gunsmither/coworker. My uncle knows what I plan to do with the books, but I
als didn't want to be seen as trying to take advantage of his generosity.

Most of the books are not in the best of shape, having spent many years in a
damp basement--mildew stains and all that.

Thanks again!
