Over twenty years ago I had a couple T/Contenders with various
barrels. I sold them but I have regretted it ever since. I have
spotted one of the old frame and fore ends with a .32 cal(Wildcat). I
have no desire to reload any wildcat rounds. I will probably scrounge
around for the .410 and .22LR and .22 Mag barrels. My question is will
the newer model barrels fit on the old style receivers and fore ends?

Thanks in advance for answers.

I have a G2 T/C - and was noted that old receivers can NOT take
new barrels.

Go to the custom shop and tell them the receiver you have and you got it!

Go to Ed's in Ok and you likely can get what you want.
http://www.edstc.com/ Ed is top rate. We in IHMSA use him / I do.

He has old style and new style - check out the site.

The Original Contender and the NEW G2 Contender use the same barrels
and
forends. (See a few exceptions for barrels) However, the stocks and
rear grips are different and do not interchange.

My understanding is the common Contender frame will take the original AND G2
barrels, but the G2 will not take the original barrels. Also, I believe if
you use a new G2 barrel on an older Contender, you also need to use the new
G2 forends. I think there are also some really old octagon barrels that
will only fit the very first Contenders.

The only way to be sure is to contact T/C (bought by S&W recently?) or one
of the T/C specialty shops (Fox River).

Good shooting,

Thanks - knew I was in a mess - When first getting into this
I went to a gun show and saw many older barrels. Which looks
like market share capture...and more sales. I didn't buy any.

I think the G2 frame is stronger but that might not be true.

I posted a web address to Ed's place - he does a lot of T/C
business and has for years. IHMSA users suggest him. IHMSA
is the International Handgun Metallic Silhouette Association.
We shoot metal targets and also with NRA and others.
