For me it went like this. Still pretty similar.
Pellet gun: 8
.22 rifle: 12
.22 revolver: 12
Shotgun: 13
.30-06: 16
.45 ACP: 26
7.62x39: 26
I did quite a bit of shooting and hunting as a kid but after entering
the university I had to leave the guns at home. I got back into
shooting and hunting though, and it is now one of my favorite hobbies.
Back when I was young, in the 1980s, it was not uncommon for the whole
family and the family friends to play shooting games with the pellet
gun, and later, rifles and shotguns. We are of partly German heritage
I suspect that this may be a sort of residual genetic urge to have
Schutzenfests.
I used to roam freely with my pellet gun and later, .22s and shotguns
around the woods and just hunt small game. Of course nowadays people
would have a heart attack if they saw a kid emerge from the woods with
a pellet gun.
