I'm sure a lot of people here remember him most for that, but he was a
great actor. Everyone owes it to themselves to see him as Moses and as
Ben Hur. There were many other movies he was in, but those performances
always stood out for me.

I didn't like the ending of Will Penny -- but it certainly wasn't
predictable or trite.

J, the word "essentially" is redundant. (This is a very picky,
stylistic issue.)
They both played the same roles. There is no "essentially", they ARE
the exact same roles.
By your own arguments, there is no need to get at the essence of the
matter, hence "essentially" is redundant.

Of the people polled about Heston's vs. Smith's films, Heston's
version was the hands down favorite according to Variety.
Frankly, maybe you oughta put a "He" infront of all your "Haw"s

Gee Donny,
I only cite polls when they support my position, generally with polls,
I can take or leave 'em. In this case, I happen to agree with the
polls. "I AM LEGEND" wasn't half the movie "THE OMEGA MAN" was,
especially talking to the studios.
1.Omega man earned a 4 month "run" at first run theaters.(In the biz,
we call it "long legs".The movie made good money for 4 straight
months) Foreign maket revenues were good for 3-4 years. I am Legend
had a 4 week "run". Why so short? After week 2 attendance dropped to
nil as did their revenues. Time to replace Legend with with a product
that might make the studios more money. (This is a sure sign of a bad
product.)
2. Foreign make distribution isn't quite the cash cow it once was.
Once the black market dvd's come out, its pretty well "game over".
I read what Tom wrote-nuthin' wrong here. Your response was
condescending, insulting and rude.
You chose the words and style of your post-not me, I'm not the "bad
guy" here. BTW, we are ALL moderators, no vigilante about it. It is

I bet in the intervening years the movie-going public changed also.
How many movies today - or when Legend came out - have the same "legs'?
Not arguing the merits of either. I just wonder if much of the
difference is due to a change in our society and our expectations.
I've not seen "Legend" and it's been so long since I've seen Omega Man
that I hardly recall any of it. but I'll go back and rent it.
