I don't know who this was, we now have a comdey radio station.

"They aren't going to take our guns away. Everybody is moaning about
that, but it isn't going to happen.

Guy knocks on your door. "Hi, I'm Obama's gun confiscator, please
bring me all of your guns." Like that job will have a bunch of
vacancies."

He's on one side of the door, I'm on the other. Watch one of the
"CSI" type shows for words like "stellate" and "blowback". But as an
x-ray tech I can tell you that contact leaves a pretty dramatic entry.
Most of the time the x-rays were for primary documentation rather than
diagnostic. Sigh.

It'll never happen.

Obama will simply attack the manufacturers of ammunition. A gun without
ammo is just an expensive, clumsy bat.

The Courts have already stated that to infringe on the ability to buy ammo
is to infringe on the RKBA.

CS,
Not if you're not restricting the sale of ammunition. You're just
hitting them with so many OSHA/EEO/Homeland Security findings/
Frivolous fines/lawsuits they are forced to either quit or jack the
prices sky high. Add in taxes to ammunition, like they do with
gasoline/tobacco....

Hi guy. I *think* I had at least the relevant cite at one time, but
no more. Can you please provide a pointer to that ruling?

Yeah, and people like NYC's Michael Bloomberg are really intimidated by
these RKBA friendly "courts", eh? ;-)

Cite? Not trying to be a dick, I only found some non-right-to-buy ammo
rulings, such as laws being unconstitutionally vague, environmental issues,
and other cases having nothing to do with infringement of the 2nd and
ammunition.

I don't think an actual law is really needed. All Obama needs to do is
regulate, tax, and harass ammunition manufacturers until they get priced out
of the market, move out of the US (and thus become "import" items subject to
yet more regulation), or just close their doors.

Anyway, if you can point me in the right direction, I'd appreciate it.

Then, too, IIRC, back in the 90's during the Bubba Administration, they
tried to do a confiscation in LA. Something like 90% of the cops called in
sick that day.

I also recall that WAY back, maybe in the 70's or 80's, some town in New
Mexico (Sante Fe?), the cops went on walkout strike and the crime rate
plumetted.

But then the ol' memory hole ain't what it used to be.

It would have to be a joke (though peoples sense of humor isn't what it used
to be a few generations ago) because, consider:

With 80 million gun owners in the US, if even 2% decided to take out the
thugling at the door, it would mean 1.6 million dead, more tha we've lost in
every war Americans have fought since the French & Indian Wars (1.2M ??).

Even ObamaJugen aren't that nuts....hopefully.

It was tried recently with the move to hold gun manufacturer's liable for
criminal use of their product
If failed

If memory serves the precedent is not with ammo, but goes further back to
printer's ink/supplies and the First Amendment
I will try to dig it up when I have some time.

I seem to recall something like that.

Still, the way this administration works, the Constitution doesn't get much
consideration.

Obama has a lot of weapons at his disposal. He can bury ammunition
manufacturers in higher taxes, punishing regulations, environmental
regulations, fees, fines, lawsuits, and God knows what else.

We have a right to smoke and drink, yet higher taxes have been imposed on
these specific activities.

I imagine the same can be done to bullets, putting ammunition out of reach
of the poor, and eventually the rest of us.

Hopefully I'm wrong, and these posts are a waste of time, but I'm afraid I'm
right.

Where are the military going to get ammo from? Even better, where
will LE? You can't say "oh, it's an unsafe environment to make
civilian ammo, but not military" (okay, you can say anthing you want,
just have to prove it in court).

Right now the military accounts for a large percentage of the ammo
made in the US, but the Army has already indicated that in FY 14 they
will probably reduce that by as much as 15%. And keep decreasing.
"We" are the ones who subsidized the military and LE purchases.

A lot of todays military ammo is NOT made in America. Example: Germany
is a large supplier of 9mm. Outsourcing has reached even our national
defense. In this instance we can thank Cheney and Rumsfeld, but the
moron in chief at present is stying the course as well.

What the past five presidents have done to this country may just be
pound in the final nails of oour collective coffins.

Are you sure? The once fired "military" brass I have (5.56 NATO) is
imprinted Federal. Now, admittedly, we have primers, brass, bullets
and powder made by outside contractors, so that leaves only labor by
the government. I honestly don't think that "the arsenals" have all
of that capacity.

The three currently proposed rounds for the Army's propsed support
rifleman, the guy with the longer ranged M4, are all of civilian
origin.

I remeber at about the same time as one of the cities filed their suit
that a group in Arizona announced that they were going to file a suit
against Chevrolet since they were liable for criminal use of their
products. After all, you need a car to committ DUI. And I think you
also need a car to do a drive-by. I think it was more of a "reducto
ad absurdum" case that was never filed. But, as absured as it was
reduced to, I think the point was equally "valid". Bars have been
held responsible for letting drunks out to drive, but I've never heard
of Budweiser being held responsible (although serving Bud Light is a
criminal act in and of itself, IMnsHO)
