I was in the local Wal-Mart looking over the gun counter and noticed a matte
finished 12 gage automatic. I took a look at it and it was a Baikal
chambered for 12 gage 2 3/4", 3", and 3 1/2" for (IIRC) the high $300 range.
Next to it are two camo 1187s that haven't moved in months for about twice
the price.

I really think Remington has got to be hurting themselves by offering the
Baikal at such a low price edging out their own domestically made product.

You won't need to worry about it anymore. Remington has dropped the
Baikals (Spartan), and the Zastava guns, (798, 799 and model 5) from
the 2009 catalog.

Remington imports Baikal? I didn't know that. By chance would you, or
anyone reading this know if Remington stocks parts for the Baikal IZH35M
target pistol? I need a slide catch lever. Or how about the Baikal
IZH46M air pistol? I need a seal set.

EAA still lists the airgun:

EAA lists parts for the .22: http://www.eaacorp.com/diagrams-izh35lg.html

Thanks for that info George! And here I thought EAA just dropped it all
and left us high and dry without repair parts. I guess that's what I get
for thinking?

There are few things you can't find with Bing or Google. Bing seems to be as
good as Google; maybe better some times. I think Google has them beat on
maps still.

If you look online, there's nary a Baikal to be seen in the 2009
Remington catalog. What you see are probably closeouts. Remington
now imports Italian-made over-unders under the Premier name instead of
"Spartans".

Wrong time of the year for camo shotguns, either deer season or turkey
season will see them gone, assuming the economy picks up.

IIRC the real Remingtons have been sitting there for a long time. I will
admit they may only be the floor models.

If EAA doesn't have the parts it might be worth it to contact Baikal
directly

You can get a seal set from Pilkington in Tennessee or from Pyramyd
Air. Know where I can get a compression tube for my Izzy?

I doubt that. Ford hasn't found its Fords and Lincolns competing for
the same customers; the high brand and the low brand have different
markets.
