Aimpoint Comp ML Battery question

I've got two of these. They've been sitting unused for about 6
months. Then I got them out, the battery in one was still OK and the
other was very low. I went to several likely places today and was
unable to find a battery.

It looks like you need to remove the battery when putting these away
if you don't have plans to use them again soon. Is that true?

What stores sell the batteries? I looked at drug stores that have
camera batteries, that was obviously the wrong place.

If you are storing any electronics that long, you should
remove the batteries
