Can anyone confirm? I've never seen one before and wonder if the
seller has it ID'ed correctly?

The Germans would put "Germany" on an oiler intended for use by their troops
in ENGLISH!!! Stay away from this BS artist.

I seriously doubt that a WWI-vintage German-issue piece of equipment
would be marked "Germany" in English. Could be an equivalent
commercially made item, of course.

I've seen identical or at least very similar oilers sold for use with
sewing machines, fishing reels and just about anything else that may
need the odd drop of carefully-applied oil.

Looks a lot like a Maxim oil can, but it's not. "Germany" is a dead
giveaway that it's for export. No cryptic Wehrmacht markings on it.
Stay away from the seller!

A guy once tried to sell me a roman coin with the likeness of Julius
Caesar and the date "31BC" on it.

Hey, they knew Jesus was going to be born 31 years later. You ought to see
these flea market white trash BS artists on ebay. Everything they have is
rare or very rare.

I heard something similar about a clay pot, and with "made in" in
today's English alphabet.
