I love my area in May. The azaleas are in bloom, the tulips are up, and many
trees are in flower.
You might want to visit Longwood Gardens at that time.

I've never been there, but I've heard the Biltmore estate in
Asheville, NC is a sight to behold any time of the year. They
probably have a web page full of tourist information online somewhere.

As a local, I always make it a point to go during this time because WDW
really does an incredible job. Click on the workshop and demo, and the
entertainment links to see if there's any interesting things you'd like
to see in addition to "just" the flowers. <grin>

Geez, I though that enough of us here have visited Disney (courtesy of
Spike) that location would never crop up as a recommended *voluntary* visit!
