Getting Started on a Water Garden

Hi everyone!

My husband has been wanting to start a water garden every since we moved into our house. He has
the location all picked out and a large collection of stones just waiting to be used.
(Unfortunately, this will mean I'll have to find a new location for my sunflowers). I'd love to
get him started on it as a Christmas gift, but I have no idea of what is needed.

Can anyone suggest a good source for a beginner water gardener in central Massachusetts? I
thought maybe a gift certificate from some such place could be a nice gift under the tree.

I have a catlog from Dripworks 1-800-522-3747. They also have a web
site at http://trine.com/GardenNet/DripWorks/dripwork.htm. Their
catalog is primarily about drip irrigation but they have books and
supplies on the subject. There is also a newsgroup called rec.ponds
and they focus on just this subject.

I live in Worcester, MA and would refer you to Bigelows in Northboro
for ideas on gifts. How about a good reference book and a circulation
pump to get started. Rutland Nurseries would be a good source for
landscape ideas if you want to hire a contractor.
