My father is looking for a Windows95 gardening program for planning
his garden.
We got a demo disk of the BBC 3D Garden which is a dos program and
appeared to be quite slow.
We have seen some reviews of a program called 3D Landscape and it
appears quite good but you can't get a demo disk.
Has anybody used this program or can suggest any other?

Thankyou for your help.

We've been doing a bit of research on gardening software ourselves,
although as yet we haven't bought anything.

3D Landscape is one of the recommended ones. But it seems to be
limited more to landscape designing and not garden planning. For
example, you can organize your lot, put trees in, put flower beds
in, etc, but you cannot play with each individual flower bed. You
can design decks and patios, build fences, etc.

An alternative (and our favourite so far) is Garden in Time, by
MoonOwl. It's for garden design, where you design a flower bed and
then choose the flowers and plants you want to put in it. You can
then cycle through the seasons, putting each plant through its own
growth cycle. You can see how colour schemes work, how the height
varies (will this plant hide the one growing behind it?), where the
holes are in the different seasons, etc. The graphics are also quite
good.

If you have access to the web, go to http://www.btw.com/garden.htm
for info on 3D Landscape; and to http://infoweb.magi.com/~moonowl/ for
info on Garden in Time.

Microsoft, some time in April, is launching a new program for Windows 95
called "Microsoft Complete Gardening for Windows 95". Saw a demo at the
Northwest Garden Show in Seattle and it looks like it might be a good
one. Retailing for about $30. (US) $40 (Cdn). Try Microsoft homepage at
http://www.microsoft.com/corpinfo.
