Hope it is not peach borer.
Bill we have them about

LOL that is just beautiful!
Oh, goody! Now there's no need for newsgroups. And all the people who
answer a question with a lame weak retort that has nothing to offer in the
way of help.
I hope it's not cancer, herpes, halitosis, gangrene, syphilis, or pink eye.
BTW, I did google peach borer, and all I got was pictures of larva, and
nothing that looks like my problem. Google is useful. Plain answers from
real live people are nice, too. BTW, in my Peach Borer search were included
peach cobbler, Miss Peach Pageant, Little Miss Peach Pageant, Junior Little
Miss Peach Pageant, Gay Peach Pageant, well, you get the idea.
Give some useful information. Sheesh.
Nothing mean here . Why not mention you googled Peach Borer up front?
Bill
At least you've got peaches! Our trees were full of blossoms this
spring, just loaded with em. Then came threat of a late hard frost, so
we stayed up all night with the trees, keeping them warm with fires.
That was one full day of woodcutting for the job, and it worked. Not a
single leaf was singed, or curled from too much heat. First couple of
weeks after, the young fruit was coming along nicely--then they
started to shrivel and fall from the trees. Not one measly little
peach left. Same thing with the apple trees. Same thing with a
neighbor's apple tree, about 3 miles down the road (which is about as
"close" a neighbor as we like around here), and their tree last year
was simply loaded.
Sorry I can't help with your problem. On one forum I checked where
somebody had the same problem as mine, the expert on duty had only
this to say: "The honey bee population is severely depleted."
All this use of carbaryl, including my own, cannot be helping, if
that's where the problem lies.

Some of the pests that can cause this kind of oozing from the peaches
are Oriental Fruit moths or plant bugs and stink bugs.
You should see some kind of debris at the site from the insect boring
in. If this is your problem, clean up all damaged fruit and find a
way to kill the bugs.
Check this web site for more details:

By far, the most common problem of this type with peaches is not the
fruit, but the trunk and branches having a problem of Gummosis.

We tried to grow peaches here. The black 5/8 moths Peach borers made
it impossible. I guess this due to peach and apple commercial orchards
within 6 miles. This 35 years ago.
For some reason I think you will not show up on my machine.
I can't wait not to get any help!
> You are correct; I was wrong.
Correct? Not "correct". The word is "right" as opposed to wrong--it
is not as if you were being merely "incorrect" here! You were dead
wrong to trade in such dangerous slander you bastard, which is wrong
as anybody can get, and you are still wrong if you think what follows
in form of this phony, half-baked "apology," can change that. But as
to my being "correct"? Maybe, but only insofar as I said that you are
a miserable piece of uncured garden fertilizer, as is made quite plain
by the odor of this . . .
>

>
> Also, thank you for providing some insight into your character.
That's some "apology" you got right there, Bub. That must have taken a
whole lot of soul-searching.
Yeah, what you know about my character is limited to just a few
things, such as might be judged, e.g. from what I said about a
neighbor at "3 miles away is close enough." But that might be just so
much a relevation about the character of my fellow human kind as it is
about me, that I should like that 3 miles distance so much. That
neighbor could be some kind of character like YOU, who goes around
spreading untrue tales about other people--and then can't so much as
offer the mere, simple, easy humility of a genuine apology for it.
But, I mean, shoot! You needn't be ashamed because in my experience
MOST people are like you, and that's another reason I like that 3
miles distance so much.
It is not the coyotes and the chipmunks who are out there clubbing
those poor Iranians over the head. Those animals are people, people
just like you, the sort who act not according to instinct and the laws
of survival but pursuant to perceptions of things that are not there,
slanders and rumors, opinions and attitudes having nothing to do with
nature or truth. That creep from central casting for Planet of the
Apes who rules over Iran says, "Bash in their heads, they are
terrorists!" It is not the jackals and the owls who are such easy
pushovers for such slander; it is not the jackasses, pigs and geese
who take it at face value and start the goose-step march, it is human
beings.
It is not the little birdies in the trees, the sparrow and the
chickadee sitting here with their beaks up their butts, bemoaning the
passing of their idols with the blonde feathered tresses and the fancy
Thriller leg-work, while heads of fellow freedom loving humans are
being bashed bloody on the rooftops of Iran. No, these bird-brains
looking on, are you and me doing nothing, just as we do every time,
when even that cat out on my lawn knows better than that. You damn
betcha. They defend one another, get together and run the intruder
off. That's what a common house cat can do, that the United States of
America is always and forever too "human" to do. Even a coup of
chickens in the barnyard has more humanity, when it comes to defending
their own. And do you need the list of the number of times that you
have said, "It's none of our business," while the bodies pile up to
rot under the sun, in Bosnia, in Kurdistan, in Rwanda?
Don't give ME any of your ever so high-falutin' "human" self-
righteousness, for I well might have, as you suggest, an apoplexy--but
only from laughing too hard.
That's what you can know of my "character," Jackson.

OK, now if you 2 roosters would stop circling. Both of you seem to be on
the side of the angels, the true, the good, and the beautiful. The
response, in error, was made against one of the lowest forms of
degradation, which, justifiably, should illicit a strong response.
Gentlemen, it was a fair misunderstanding, apologies made, no harm done.
Let's move on.
Boy! You must really be sore about that reply of mine to you the
other day to call THAT a "fair misunderstanding." Hm! I guess if
anyone around here should get an apology, it's YOU from me.
But, okay, moving right along . . .
I come to discover as of today that the terraces we dug into the
hillside below the garden for squashes and cucumbers are NOT going to
work without a much greater depth of soil. The sun beats down on them
mercilessly, so that no matter how often I water them, the leaves
still wilt miserably beneath that sun. We arrive at the conclusion
that with such rocky soil so close to the surface, the heat retention
from that stony ground is just cooking those poor plants to death, and
evaporating the water nearly so soon as we put it in. Next spring
we'll provide a much greater depth of soil, see how that works.

Congratulations, you have just grabbed an anchor, and an anti-Christian.
On a more pertinent front, 3 of my Stupices have fruit on them. I
planted the last of my green beans yesterday (36 in total), bitter
melons (5), and trombocino (3). Potted 6 peppers (small but you never
know). Today, I start shoe horning in the plants that don't have a spot
to go to, mostly squash and melon.

Having done a quick perusal of his web site he doesn't, at first blush,
seem at odds with the good the true and the beautiful, but I must concur
that he seems rash, inflexible, and given to poor choices. All I was
trying to do is point out that the world is a stage and in our turn, we
all get to play the sage and the dolt, and the friend and the scoundrel.
To err is human, to forgive is divine, to break is to buy.
As far as I know he is new here, and I would give him the benefit of the
doubt for awhile, as I tried to do with Shelly, earlier this year.
This will sort itself out in time.
Peace.

Probably something (an insect) that likes peaches. Takes a bite and moves on
to another one. Ever try tanglefoot at the lowest part of the trunk to keep
them away from your peaches? Unless it is a flying beetle then you'll just
have to share some of the sap with them. I bet you'll just have a few bumps
in the ripened peaches.
