Today I bought the Q-BERT cartridge for the NES and was extremely
dissapointed that it doesn't THUMP! Not at all! Q-BERT can fall off
and there is COMPLETE SILENCE!
I'd like to know if there is a SEGA or TG16 Q-BERT that THUMPS. The
NES version is reasonably faithful to the original in most other aspects.
I realize that they probably can't duplicate the exact sound, but
the could have done better than silence.

Q*Bert had an electromechanical thwacker inside the cabinet (just like
the ones that announce your free game on a pin) that gave you the
obnoxious THUMP when the li'l goober died. If you really want to
recreate that real arcade experience, I'd be happy to come visit your
house whenever you play the game and whack your TV set with a cue stick
every time someone falls off the pyramid. :-)
