I'm playing Adventures of Lolo on a NES. I really enjoy the game, or
at least I have so far. I've gotten through the first 8 floors, and
am trying to solve the first room of the ninth floor. I'm having a
bit of a problem.
SPOILER WARNING -- If you haven't gotten to the ninth floor, I'm about
to descirbe the first room, and what I think may be the solution to
it. That solution falls under the heading of being intuitively
obvious, as far as I'm concerned, but just in case, you may not want
to go on.
All right. The first room of the ninth floor is the room with a long
path of platforms and bridges over a lava flow. There are two areas
where the path loops -- first, in the middle (which is where you start
out) and second, at the upper left (which is where the only heart on
the board, along with the only monster, are located). The chest is at
the upper right. The monster is the guy who rolls at you if he and
you are lined up along a column or row; he's active from the first
moment you move.
The only solution I see: first, get on the far side of the middle
loop from the path. When the monster comes after you, you'll be able
to run out of the loop, up the patht to the heart. At that point,
you'd negotiate the loop around the heart, and run the length of the
path to the chest, keeping ahead of the critter all the way.
My problem: on those occasions where my control of Lolo is perfect
enough to get him to the heart beofre the roller touches him, he's hit
immediately after picking up the heart. As far as I can tell, I get
no bubbles, and have no powers to pick up. At this point, I am
beginning to believe that this level is physically impossible to
solve, or that it is physically impossible for me to solve it with me
reflexes. The following questions occur:
1) is my solution correct?
1a) If not, what trick am I missing?
2) Assuming my solution is correct, and that I'm not missing
something, has anyone else solved it in the fashion I have described?
3) If anyone has completed the game, and solved it in the manor I
have described, do you know the password that would get me beyond this
level? At this point, I truly believe that it is physically
impossible.
I'd rather have a hint/spoiler than a password. If you're feeling
really generous, and can run the course, and could give me the
password if you only remembered it, I recall the passowrd to get to
the last room on floor 8. It's
DLYK, if I remember correctly.
Thanks for your help.
