Thanks a lot for the post! Looking at the release schedule it seems like...
there are tons of Genesis games coming out, but too few RPGs! I still can't
figure out why Sega isn't brining out Shining Force and Landstalker. The
Genesis desperately needs more RPGs right now.
The Sega CD schedule looks dismal. Looks like everything is being badly
delayed and some games are missing. Where's Stellar 7 and Wing Commander?

Just FYI: Genesis will send this magazine for free to anyone that asks
for it - I will try to get hold of the address.

I just bought this game. And I've only toyed with it for about an hour.
My first impression is:
Bleach. Two stars out of five. Spend your money elsewhere.
Chakan is a platform action fantasy game. You play Chakan, a sword-weilding
sorcerer who needs to defeat 6 bosses in 6 different planes. Chakan can
move left and right, jump, roll, attack and use magic. (Sonic with a weapon.)
It seems like it is probably the result of a quick-and-dirty port over
to the GameGear from Genesis. The graphics are nice, but dark characters
on a black background are hard to see on a GameGear. Chakan can overlap with
the enemies, and takes a lot of damage in doing so. A Bad Thing (tm).
The visual responses can be misleading and unintuitive. (After attacking
a minotaur for a while, he seemed to be blowing up into a bunch of boulders.
Attacking? Dying? No, evidently an avalanche.)
There is too much unavoidable random damage you have to take during the game.
Eg., Some stalactites *randomly* drip lava, damage you *have* to take.
In the end, the game is too hard for my taste. This is coming from someone
who cruised through Chuck Rock, found Ax Battler just right, and took about
ten sonics to figure out a reliable way to kill the Ant Lion in Sonic II.

In my opinion, that's what Nintendo has been screwing up on doing. Japan has
Final Fantasy V, Dragonquest V, and Elfaria while the SNES doesn't have ****
in the way of good RPG's (except Final Fantasy and Zelda III which are a year
old.)

Every system desperately needs more RPG's. Where is Dragon Warrior 5?

I would second the call for Wing Commander.
Also, I have this feeling that Lords of Thunder will be the swan song of the
TurboGrafx. The release schedule looks abysmal (lots of lame old card games,
no Ziria 2). Well, if I get to play Cosmic Fantasy 3, I would consider
myself satisfied with my Turbo CD.

And I can only find the one-up monitor on top of the tail. Where

I had to chuckle (and not a happy one at that). After seeing the flood
of titles coming for SNES and Genesis, I can guarantee that you will be
seeing TONS of rushed, inferior titles. It's going to get bad. Be
more and more careful to avoid the dogs. To see for yourself, check out
the SNES catalog section in the most recent EGM. Augh! But this newsgroup
helps a lot!
