I remember when I was a young lad, I got a Genesis for Christmas. I loved
it so. I have more games for it than any other system. I still to this day
play them. They still rock. And you know? I'd never sell them. Ever.
Later on, I bought a Sega CD. I got a few games for it. Some rocked, some
didn't. I'm proud of my collection and proud of supporting it. They
brought me more hours of fun than you can imagine. I still take care of the
catridges with rubbing alcohol.

I remember buying a Saturn, too. The Sega Website persuaded me to do it.
Anyone like the old website better? Panzer Dragoon Saga is the best RPG
ever. The SNK and Capcom ports rocked. The Saturn's failure is
videogaming's worst tragedy.

I remember following Sega's new project, Katana. I followed it so much, you
wouldn't believe it. I still have PDFs of its tech stats (the right ones--
not what the public underestimates). It bought every mag in sight to find
out everything about the DC. I remember around the Jap launch, I bought EGM
issue 114. I still want that RPG that guy with the long last name talked
about. I marvelled at how good the graphics in the game previews were. It
was like heaven. DC became my new life. I wanted every game that came out.
Sonic, Blue Stinger, Buggy Heat, you name I wanted it.

I thought the DC was the only consoles I'd ever need. I was so enthuzed
about it. I mean really: it's raining out and no place to go. Pop in Sega
Rally 2 and play online with your best bud (damnit..why did they have to
mangle the US release? I cried when I heard no US online play). It was
magical for me. All I ever looked forward to was the DC. My previous year
of school had been absolute Hell for me and I lost a lot of friends. DC was
the light at the end of the tunnel.

On 9.9.99, I bought a DC at launch with a perorder I had from the first day
preorders were being taken. I brought home Sonic Adventure, Hydro Thunder,
and Soul Calibur. Now I have over 17 games for the DC. Playing online is
beautiful. I'd hate to see DC's life end soon.

My cat, Kendra just walked by. She used to watch me play Sonic 2 eight
years ago. Now she still watches me play only now it's Crazy Taxi instead.
My mom (yes as strange as it sounds) loves to play Crazy Taxi when I'm not
home. Yeah and sometimes I play it with her. My dad always insists on
playing Soul Calibur with me.

Now with all the announcements, I don't like that Sega's giving in. I wish
they'd atleast merge or partner with Nintendo. SoJ is tearin up the DC.
And although many people will disagree with me, SoA was in better hands when
Bernie was around. He gave us a DC for 200 dollars with a modem. If it
wasn't for him, we'd of paid 250 dollars for a DC without a modem. You may
argue he killed the Saturn, but still.

Anyone else have the same feelings?

Yeah, I'd like to see them team up with Nintendo too. But unfortunately, Sega
really needs to be heading to where the money is right now...namely, PS2 &
GBA. At least now maybe those pre-adolescent Sony fanboys will get to see
what they've been missing for the past 2 years, and maybe Sega can finally get
some "mainstream" respect as a software developer. However, if they totally
sell out and sign some deal with Microsoft, I think that I'm just going to have
to stick with Miyamoto & Treasure games from now on.

Sega could make a title that appears on Dreamcast and PS2 but include
exclusive extras on the Dreamcast version. Sony fanboys don't deserve Sega.

Where the money is? Man, can you imagine if Sega started making games
primarily for the Gamecube (not ports of old games as will likely
happen with PS2 development)? That's where the money would be:)

I think if the DC really disappears in the next year or so it will be a real
tragedy because it's a damn fine system. I respect Sega for creating
game-oriented hardware and not being afraid to innovate and take some risks from
time to time ( namely Shenmue - risky venture in the name of innovation isn't
it? ). But if they were to partner with anyone, I wish it'd be Nintendo because
the big N is all about games, as it's always been. Their development money
should be invested in a system that has the developers in mind, which is about
the last thing the PS2 is.

I don't know what's wrong with Sega. I don't know what can make a system
featuring games so rich in content be virtually ignored by the gaming public.
Whatever problems they have, I just wish they can solve them and get the
recognition they deserve. Worst case scenario, if they ever choose to stop DC
production (hardware first, then later on software), I just want them to partner
with people that have the same philosophies on game creation. I think that would
benefit both companies as well as the gamers.

Is there any indication that the production halt is not temporary? I
could see they stop making for a bit and wait for the extra DC's to sell
and back in production when demand's are back. Here's something kinda
interesting.....Apparently the news of Sega working with
MS/Sony/Nintendo or whatever has pump up sega's stock in japan.(I dont
know for real or not though)

In article <AnHb6.154$ek.2...@news02.optonline.net>,

I've always been a Sega fan. I originally chose the Sega Master System
over the NES mainly because you got Double Dragon for free when you
bought the SMS. Anyways, I then played Phantasy Star on it, the first
RPG I ever played. And that was the main reason I bought a Genesis over
the TurboGraphx16. I was dying to play Phantasy Star II. I bought every
system from sega, not including handhelds, the Sega CD, the piece of
junk 32bit add-on, the Saturn, and of course the Dreamcast. Though I
wouldn't mind if they dropped out of the hardware race. It would only
mean one less system for me to buy in the future when the next-
generation of systems start appearing. As long as their games survive,
that's the most important thing.

Yes it was up from the rumors... but CNN reported the Nikki analysts
say it's because the market is really hyped about Sega beomcing a
Software only company...

Hi,

I agree with you Clem, if SEGA do in fact start producing for
Nintendo and PS2, I hope they continue to produce games that are both
innovative and original as they have been on the DC. IMHO Shenmue rates
as one of the best games I've ever played. I would seriously consider
buying a PS2 if SEGA produce games of the same quality on a regular
basis.

Cheers

Yeah, and then it's put out by Sega. What a surprise.
