Can the Action Replay DS totally hose your DS

Just wondering-
some have said "as long as you're careful and don't use made-up codes"
while others have said "Don't touch this puppy with a ten foot pole"

Not totally sure but from what I've read, Action Replays can indeed
screw up the game save at least, possibly even the whole game.
Probably not the DS itself though. It's just a matter of thinking
before trying some weird cheat. Regular cheats like unlimited health
and such should work just fine. But cheats that change the game a lot
could be dangerous to the save file.
I've also read that the DS Action Replay can get broken pretty easily
and the only way to restore it is to do something with it with a flash
card. I don't own an Action Replay for the DS myself though so I'm not
really sure.
