Remote lost range.......anybody else experience this????

I bought the Wii for Christmas and have been using it for a few hours.
Lately I have noticed that the remote is losing the range (distance) It
used to work at about 15 feet. Now it works at about 6 feet. I have put
different batteries in it and it still works the same. I resync it I
recalibrated the sensor control and changed it from the top of the TV to the
bottom of the TV. It still only operates at about 6 feet during the fishing
game. If I got back further about 10 feet, it gives me the notice on the
bottom to move up closer. Please advise if you have experience this.

I did check the support.nintendo website for help and did all the above.
