Hello all,

I could really use some help and have a question to throw out there.

I have a Slick Shot pool game by Grand Products. When I first got it,
it would play great when first started (cold) but when warmed up a bit
the ball gate would begin to act a little sporadic, being pulsed three
or more times each time the cue ball was in the gate sensor path and
needed to be released. After maybe 50 games of this behavior the ball
gate became permanently energized. There is now a constant 5 volts on
the Jamma connector at pin X which goes to the small solenoid/light
PCB pin 2. I'm near certain this 5 volts at pin X should not be
constant. Pin X on the main PCB traces back to a Yamaha YM2203C pin
which is always at 5 volts. Take this 5 volts away, and the ball gate
de-energizes.

I’m sure the opto gate sensor is registering with the PCB ok since you
can play a game with the gate solenoid disconnected while operating
the ball gate manually.
Are there any Slick Shot owners out there that have had a similar
problem? Any help would be appreciated big time. Hints? A main PCB
schematic? A main PCB for sale? A Yamaha YM2203C chip (which I think
is the most suspect part, but I don’t know what this chip does
exactly)?

Thanks for reading.

Regards,
Fred
