Due to an overwelming LACK of response to the New
high-quality, mini and cabaret cabinets being offered,
the gentleman I've been working with to build these new
cabinets has requested we kill the project. I say "LACK
of response" to be polite, since the fact of the matter
is not one single cabinet was sold or pre-ordered!
That's right, not one. They say "if you build it, they
will come"... Well, we did and nobody came...

These new cabinets have been available for a while now,
with more being announced and numerous posts by me to
help sell them. We were trying to get all of the
various mini/cabaret cabinets made, but with nobody
buying any of the Pac-Man, Galaxian, Rally-X, Space
Zap, Space Encounters, etc. cabinets, and no pre-orders
for the Williams minis (Stargate, Bubbles, Robotron,
Make Trax, Moon Patrol, etc.) or Atari cabaret (Centipede,
Tempest and Dig Dug), the builder doesn't see the point.

The New Williams mini and Atari cabaret cabinets were
completed several weeks ago, but I haven't taken pics
of them for the web site, posted it, etc., because the
builder feels it's a lost cause (and he's not very close
to me). However, I feel he might still be persuaded to
keep this project alive if enough people will get off
their cans and order these nice, high-quality cabinets!
We haven't spoken about an amount for the Atari cabaret
or Williams mini cabinets, but I feel pretty confident
saying they should be in the same price range as the
existing Midway mini cabinets ($325-$400). Based on his
work with the Midway mini cabinets, I'm sure the quality
and replication detail will be high, but I haven't
personally seen them yet (won't for a couple of weeks).
Look at the web site to his excellent work.

The web site will only take a limited # of hits before
it becomes unavailable, so I created a mirror site.
This is not a stunt of any kind, and I'm really thinking
anything less than 15-20 cabinets being bought or
pre-ordered within the next week, and he'll just say no.
Somebody make a bulk order or coordinate with your
collectinb buddies!!! He and I have already invested a
TON of time, effort and money into these cabinets and
seen abolsutely 0 on our investment (FYI, I get no
financial return from any sales, and am only doing this
as a service to the collecting community!).

OK, group. I've laid it on the line, so now let's see
what you really want to do.

Ummmm, what about making regular size cabinets instead. Those are more
plentiful and the art is more readily available. I know it might add
some to the cost, but the way the full size cabs get beat up, they seem
to be a more likely candidate for repros.

No offense, but I don't really like the cabaret size games -- I know
some people love them and, but that's not me and obviously others. The
only one I really like is the Berzerk mini -- that thing is a work of
art.

Jason's new Frogger is awesome and I'll bet people would buy that in a
heartbeat. I wonder how the new Defender cabs are selling? -- Jason?

best,
Dan

Why dont you guys make cabinet plans and sell them for $50 on crate paper.
It is much more affordable and would be the way to go. If you want to sell
William's caberets team up with Darrin Jacobs and get some out there with
full kits installed.

I spoke to Darin about this, but only one piece of the
Williams mini artwork is avaiable, as far as I know, and
that would greatly add to the expense of the cabinets.
They idea was to keep it cheap to help folks put new
games together to replace existing cabinets.

I've considered selling the plans, but at this point in
time, I'm not sure the builder would want to do that
unless he got a lot of orders. One $50 order here and
one there just doesn't justify the time and expense of
doing these I'm sorry to say.

I will be keeping the prototypes and temppletes we used
to make these, and may consider selling them if anyone
is interested (not for $50 though).

I would probably buy new Galaga mini if you made one, but I see that is
on the "later" list. Anyone have one? I have a complete Galaga mini
with a distroyed cabinet. I have another mini coming this weekend I
hope, but am not sure the cabinet is exactly the same.

We have made several cabinets (upright and cocktail), but stalled on making any
Galaga/Ms Pac mini for sale since it was planned on be done elsewhere. If that
falls through, we will offer them.
